Principal's Note
We wanted to extend our heartfelt thanks for your enthusiastic participation in the recent Otter Trot fundraiser. It was truly an incredible sight to witness so many students, families, and caregivers coming together in unity, and it remains a cherished highlight of our year as administrators.
The Otter Trot was a resounding success, thanks to your unwavering support and dedication. Your presence not only made the event enjoyable but also reinforced the sense of community that defines our Meadow View family. Together, we demonstrated our commitment to the well-being and growth of our students, and for that, we are immensely grateful.
In addition to celebrating the success of the Otter Trot, we'd like to remind everyone that October marks the beginning of Anti-Bullying Month. This month, we emphasize the importance of kindness, respect, and empathy in our school community. Our goal is to create a safe and nurturing environment where every student feels valued and supported. Throughout October, we will be organizing a series of activities and discussions aimed at raising awareness about bullying prevention and promoting positive social interactions. We encourage caregivers to engage in conversations with their children about the significance of treating others with kindness and standing up against bullying in all its forms. Your active involvement in fostering a culture of respect and empathy is pivotal in creating a supportive and safe school environment. Together, we can create a safe, inclusive, and supportive school community where every child can thrive.
Warm regards,
Mrs. Earhart and Mrs. Bell

Thank you to all the volunteers, caregivers, staff, and most importantly the students who supported our Otter Trot this year! The Otter Trot takes months of planning but it's an amazing event and experience for our school and community.
We will recap the event at our next SCO meeting on Tuesday, October 17 from 6:00 - 7:00 pm. Please plan on attending the meeting as we continue the discussion for our fall festival which is only three short weeks away! We will break into small groups and work on planning/finalizing different parts of the festival. Please be on the lookout for our upcoming Cherrydale fundraiser and the Otter Gear store.

October is Bullying Prevention Month
By Mrs. Leon
Dear Meadow View Families,
I'm Mrs. Leon, the school counselor, and I'm thrilled to support our students and teachers during this Bullying Prevention Month. Our goal is to create a safe and kind school environment. Here's what we have planned for this month:
- Our teachers will undergo their first Welcoming School Anti-bullying Training on October 5th.
- Classroom teachers will use the Second Step program to teach Bullying Prevention lessons.
- In this newsletter, I'll provide insight into Bullying Prevention to educate our caregivers on what it is and how we support our students at Meadow View.
Stay tuned for more updates and information on this important topic!
What are the Bullying Prevention Unit Lessons?
As part of our commitment to creating a safe and respectful school environment, we are focusing on Bullying Prevention this October. We use the Second Step program to teach essential skills for getting along and excelling in school. During this month, we're incorporating the Second Step Bullying Prevention Unit into our curriculum. Your child will learn:
- How to recognize when bullying occurs.
- How to report bullying to a caring adult.
- How to refuse to let bullying happen to themselves or others.
- How to support someone being bullied by standing up for them and promoting kindness and inclusivity.
- How to recognize, report, and refuse cyberbullying.
To make this effort successful, everyone at school plays a role. Our staff is trained to recognize and respond to bullying, support students involved, and foster a positive school climate. We also need your help. If you hear about bullying at our school, please let us know. Teach your child to report bullying and understand that bullying is never acceptable.
If you have any questions about the Bullying Prevention Unit or the Second Step program, please don't hesitate to contact me. You can also find more information about our anti-bullying policy and procedures on our school website or by reaching out to the school office
What is the Difference Between Conflict, Rude, Mean, and Bullying?
At Meadow View, we want to ensure that every student feels loved, safe, celebrated, and has access to a high-level education every day. To achieve this, it's important to distinguish between various interpersonal situations that may arise at school: conflict, rudeness, meanness, and bullying.
Please refer to the attached graph to understand the differences between these terms. We believe that by understanding these distinctions, we can better support our students and maintain a positive school environment
