Message from the Principal
I hope everyone has recovered from the impact the of recent winter weather. That was certainly an unexpected, scary event. Our school building and surrounding grounds were fortunate to have sustained little to no damage as a result.
Our International Extravaganza is right around the corner! we are looking forward to an evening of cultural celebration and learning. If you are interested in sharing something about your culture with the community, please reach out to me, or your child's teacher for more information.
Lastly, we need your help. If you drive your children to school, you have likely experienced our lower parking lot during arrival and dismissal. As you may know, there is a lot to pay attention to and watch out for; drivers need to be aware of and attentive to their surroundings and adhere to all school procedures and signage. One procedure that consistently goes unfollowed by some is how to exit the parking lot during arrival and dismissal. When exiting during arrival and dismissal it is a right turn only. This is particularly important to keeping the flow of traffic going and for safety of self and others. When you make a left turn, you hold up traffic and potentially endanger fellow Findley community members. Please be sure to stick to right hand turns out of the parking lot for everyone's safety. Thank you!
With Gratitude,
Sherry Marsh, Ed.D.
Principal

Science Fair
Dear Findley Families,
The Findley Science Fair will be on Wednesday, March 6th, 2024. It allows students to use scientific or engineering methods to answer questions they develop from their observations and to share what they learn with the school community. All Findley students, Grades K-5, are eligible to participate.
ENGINEERING DESIGN and SCIENCE EXPERIMENT registration forms can be found in your kids' Take- Home-Friday-Folders. Feel free to choose the one your kid wants to start with. Please submit ONLY ONE registration form per student to the front office before Friday, February 9th. The science fair committee will review, provide feedback, and return the form to you by Friday, February 16th.
Experiments and engineering processes can sometimes get messy and...dangerous, so please check with your parents before you get your hands wet. Parent(s) signatures are required on the registration form. Science Fair Display boards can be purchased online or in-store. Parents, please provide minimum guidance and help. Let our kids be curious and creative!
Questions, please email ptofindley@gmail.com
Have fun,
Findley PTO Science Fair Committee
Habits of Mind Series-Making Connections
As shared in previous editions of the Dragon News, as a school community we are working on naming and noticing our Habits of Mind. Habits of Mind are dispositions and behaviors that support learning, both as individuals and as a community.
In this edition, we are highlighting the Habit of Mind Makes Connections. When students are able to make connections, they notice relationships, similarities and differences, patterns and can organize their ideas. Teachers use the rubric below when assessing students on demonstrating making connections.
