Center Community Chat
October 22, 2023
Dear Center Community,
Thank you to families for our special fall appreciation treat this week! The cider, donuts, apples, and other baked goods were delicious!!
Congratulations to eight Fourth-Grade Students for being selected to serve the school community as members of the Fourth-Grade Student Council. A special thanks to Mr.McGillicuddy and Ms. Joyce for volunteering to serve as the advisors.
Thank you for your patience as you attempted to gain access to the student iReady diagnostic assessment reports. Our technology department created this guide to assist you. Most students in grades 2-4 should know their user names and passwords. Please reach out to your student(s)' teacher(s) if you need assistance with this.

COUNSELOR'S CORNER
Dear Center Families,
As we approach the holiday season the Center Cares program at Center School is accepting gift card donations to help our families that need some extra support. Gift cards in $20-$25 increments (or any amount) from Target or Walmart would be most welcome! Please, if you are able to make a donation gift cards will be accepted at the front office.
Thank you in advance for your generosity and care.
Warm regards,
Ms. Lallas, Center School Counselor
School Attendance
We would like to reiterate this message from Dr. Lang regarding school attendance. Please be mindful of the importance of school attendance when scheduling family vacations. Currently, 10% of Center students have missed 4 or more days of school this year.
Message from Dr. Lang:
I would like to address the importance of school attendance. This is our second school year since COVID without restrictions. We are recently beginning to see an uptick in student absences trending three or more days. If students are to be successful in school, it is important for them to be present regularly. When students are ill, they should remain home. However, it is imperative that beyond illness, students attend school daily and minimize absences to allow our staff to properly educate and support them in their learning and foster a positive classroom community with their peers. Our schools are here to support families and students. There are many school experiences that cannot be replicated if students are not in school, and we want our students to be an active participant in their learning. If you need resources or support to help your child attend school regularly, please reach out to your school administration. They will be happy to discuss options and provide you with strategies to increase your child’s attendance in school.
