Principal's Message
Greetings Springwater Students and Families,
What a great week of school spirit and creative costumes! Thank you to our leadership class who designed a great Spirit Week and to all the students who participated in each day's theme! We topped it off today with some great costumes.
As you know, we had our first school COVID exposure which has resulted in multiple students being quarantined, per state health requirements. This is a reminder to stay home if you are feeling sick; especially if you have a cough, fever, chills, shortness of breath/difficulty breathing, or loss of taste or smell. You only need to have one of these symptoms to stay home, as COVID can affect each person differently.
I have had several questions about Oregon's quarantine rules for students. Fully vaccinated students who are exposed to someone with COVID do NOT need to quarantine (and may continue to attend school) as long as they have no symptoms. Looking at this past week's exposure: if no students had been vaccinated in our school, the number of students who would have been quarantined would be 3x higher than it is right now. A significant number of students were able to continue attending school due to their vaccination status.
If you are quarantined, home sick, or miss school for any reason: please join us for our virtual academic support Monday - Thursday from 2:30pm - 3:30pm for help with your assignments and classes. This can be especially important if you are struggling in a class or have questions about a specific assignment.
Have fun and be safe this weekend!

COVID-19 Testing Information
Students who exhibit COVID-19 symptoms while at school will have access to a COVID-19 test.
Following are some important details to know about the COVID-19 test:
- The test is VOLUNTARY. Students must have a “COVID-19 Testing Consent Form” on-file before a test can be administered to a student. The form below must be fully completed and signed by a parent or guardian.
- Testing is intended for students who are exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms.
- COVID-19 symptoms include fever of 100.4° F or higher, chills, cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing and new loss of taste or loss of smell.
- Students are required to administer their own test by swabbing their own nose. A testing administrator will oversee the process and provide verbal instructions to the student.
- Testing will be conducted in the school’s Care Room or a private space.
- Students who exhibit COVID-19 symptoms on-site and are tested (whether positive or negative result) will be sent home. Further instructions will be provided at that time.
- Students who develop COVID-19 symptoms while not at school may not get tested at the school. Testing is only available for students who are already on-site and are exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms.
- Please use this information to decide what is best for your student. If you have more questions, contact our office at 503-261-4600
