Principal's Message
Dear Viking families,
I am so excited to be back as a Viking! The last time I was a Viking I was a parent of my two daughters….this time I am thrilled to be serving in the role as Principal. Valley View is a special place filled with dedicated and loving staff who are excited to help educate your children and it is my honor to lead this fine institution.
Before we get to meet each other in person let me share a little about myself personally and professionally. My wife and I have been married and have lived in Snohomish for 25 years. We have two daughters who attended Cathcart, Valley View, Glacier Peak and Snohomish High Schools. I have been a career educator for 26 years. My career started as an English teacher at Snohomish High School where I also served as Athletic Director and Assistant Principal. I later took a Principalship at Granite Falls High School and Lake Stevens High School before returning home to the Snohomish School District as the Principal of Snohomish High School for the past six years. While I have coached middle school students for a number of years at Centennial Middle School I am eager to get to meet the middle school students of VVMS.
I am glad to be able to say we are looking forward to a more normal school year for the first time in several years at VVMS. The last three years have caused us to reflect deeply as a system on how we can balance moving our students forward academically while insuring they have the social/emotional traits needed to be their best selves and prepared for the high school experience and rigor.
To deliver on that vision we are focusing on aligning our curriculum to be concentrated on supporting your children to reach and surpass the state standards. Additionally, we are implementing the Character Strong curriculum as the primary curriculum in our social emotional learning approach, which happens to be co-authored by a former Snohomish student.
I am looking forward to getting to know each one of you and am proud to be your Principal at Valley View Middle School. Please reach out if you have any questions.
With Viking Pride,
Eric Cahan

Please Check Your Child's Account For Fines or Fees
PARENTS: PLEASE REVIEW YOUR STUDENT’S ACCOUNT FOR FINES & FEES AND MAKE PAYMENTS USING PAY PORTAL: https://wa-snohomish.intouchreceipting.com. Any unpaid fines will remain on account and follow your student to High School. During High School this may impact them in purchasing items, participating in sports, and receiving their yearbook on the early release date. They will also not receive their diploma until their account is paid in full. Please be aware that you will want to check this account later in June as well since fees/fines can accrue at the end of the year.
**Please note that food service balances cannot be applied to student fines and any balance (positive or negative) will roll over to Glacier Peak or Snohomish High School at the end of your student’s 8th grade year.
If you have any questions concerning your student’s account, please contact Jackie Dalrymple at 360-563-4240, or email at Jackie.dalrymple@sno.wednet.edu.
