Local Girl Scout Accomplishments - Congratulations!
Gold Award
Sadie Forbes recently completed her Girl Scout Gold Award Project. She created a historical walking tour of her hometown, Johnsonburg NJ, which is located in Frelinghuysen Township. She put up signs at various locations around the town and built a kiosk at the Frelinghuysen Township Municipal Building that will house eight signs with general information about the town. This walking tour is available virtually and is also available at the township municipal building. You can bring your family and take a walk to learn about our town’s fascinating history. Sadie specifically designed this so that all residents can participate.
Silver Award
12 North Warren Regional students recently completed 4 separate "Take Action Projects" to benefit various organizations in our community to pursue the Girl Scouts’ Silver Award.
- Kayla and Derika McClain chose Selected Happiness Is Camping in Hardwick. They provide free summer camp for children with cancer. For their project, they built custom book shelves and ran a drive to collect books/games/etc. all of which they donated to the camp.
- Mackenzie Armstrong, Alexandria Mulligan, Isabella Grogan and Brigette Starrs made 33 custom paintings for the residents of Clover Nursing Home in Columbia (specifically designed based on each resident’s interests) and ran an easy craft with some of the residents prior to the quarantine.
- Kathryn Hunsinger, Ella McCormack, Kayleigh Dolinsky, Josy Tirado collected over 1,500 plastic drinking water bottles, received donated wood/other building materials and coordinated the construction of a Green House for students at Knowlton Elementary school.
- Madelyne McCormack and Nolagh Perst also selected Clover Nursing Home for their project. They created handmade wheelchair/walker bags for each resident and they filled them with various items such as fidget spinners, etc., and to help them carry light items around. They also built “adult busy boards” out of cutting boards and various household items such as door knobs, slide locks, etc., to help them keep up their fine motor skills.
