Developing Leopards through examples of love, encouragement, standards, and victory.
The end of the second six weeks has come and gone. Teachers have finalized grades. Please take a look at their grades in Grade book Parent Portal: https://portals17.ascendertx.com/ParentPortal/login?distid=153905
Six weeks grades are available now in Student and Parent Portal.
As we put a cheerful wrap on 2024, we’re pulling out all the stops to show our teachers and staff just how much we appreciate them. To do it right, we’re planning a BIG surprise holiday week—and we could use your help! Here’s how you can help spread a little extra holiday cheer:
- Prize Donations for Maximum Cozy Vibes
We’re collecting prize items to make the break as relaxing as possible for our hardworking teachers. Think cozy: coffee shop gift cards, blankets, socks, mugs, or anything that screams “put your feet up and enjoy!”. - Snack & Treat Support
We’ll be keeping those snack trays well-stocked that week, and any financial contributions would be put to good use fueling our holiday fun (and our teachers). $5 or $20 donations can go a long way and can be dropped off with Tracy Weeks in the front office.
Thank you so much for helping us make this week unforgettable for our staff. With your support, we’re sure to have them feeling merry, bright, and truly appreciated!
Happy Holidays and Warmest Thanks!
Semester Exam Information and Exemptions
Junior High and High School Students will take a semester exam for each class they are enrolled.
Students may be exempt from semester exams based on the following criteria:
If they have a 95-100 semester average for the class and 4 or less absences, a 90-94 semester
average for the class and 3 or less absences, an 80-89 semester average for the class and 2 or
less absences, or a 70-79 semester average for the class and 0 absences. Exemptions will be
determined within each class.
*An absence is anything that is non-school related. Three tardies will count as one absence for
exemption purposes.
Semester exams will be calculated as one seventh of the overall semester for the course which
it was administered. Semester exams are not eligible for re-takes.
Fall Semester Exams are scheduled for December 18th.
More information to come on schedule, exemptions, student appeal of absences, and attendance check-on information.
Counselor's Corner
National Day of Kindness is November 13th.
At New Home ISD, we have so much to be thankful for! We are thankful for our staff, students and community!
Lunch time!
Throughout the semester, we have had lunch time deliveries of food for your students. Sometime these deliveries are on time and at other times, your student is having to wait half of the lunch period waiting on food to be delivered. Things to keep in mind as you have food delivered:
1. Lunch times
- Monday through Thursday
- Middle School Lunch begins at 11:42am
- High School Lunch begins at 12:32pm
- Friday
- Middle School Lunch begins at 12:05
- High School Lunch begins at 12:53
2. When having food delivered, please order or bring food for only for your child. Some students have dietary restrictions due to allergies and intolerances others are unaware of.
At the secondary campus, we request that parents, grandparents, or other family members do not eat lunch with your student in our cafeteria. You are welcome to check out your student out of school to eat lunch together and then return him/her to school following lunch. Lunch is 30 minutes long. If students arrive less than 10 minutes after the tardy bell, student will be marked tardy. If they are more than 10 minutes late returning, the student will receive an absence for that class period.
Basketball Game Expectations
During home basketball games, students need to be at the arena to watch the game and cheer on the members of the team. Please make sure to keep an eye on your student. No running and playing in the cafeteria/concession stand area will be allowed. If this is observed the student will first be asked to stop and sit at the cafeteria tables. If not complying, the students will be asked to go sit with you for the remainder of the game(s).
New Home ISD game administrators are there to ensure that the game runs smoothly and handle problems that may arise during the game. Game administrators are not there to watch your students and make sure that they are behaving appropriately. Doors to the playground area will be closed and locked and the gate accessing the school will be closed.
