October 30th Edition
Support our Girls on the Run
Bring on the posters! Bring on the cheers! The Girls on the Run Practice 5K is here! Tuesday, October 31, 2023 our team will be running a practice 5K during practice. Starting at 4:15, we encourage the BRES community to come out to the track and cheer on our girls--give them a little taste of what the real 5K will be like at the end of the season in December. Thanks so much for your support!
Parent Involvement Board Policy Feedback
WCPSS is asking school leaders, staff, families, and community stakeholders to share their feedback about the new draft Board policy regarding family involvement. Your input will help to shape revisions to policy. ThoughtExchange for Board Policy 1310/4002 Parental Involvement
CogAT Assessment
Third Grade students will participate in the CogAT screener for potential gifted education identification on November 2, 3, and 6. There is no preparation or study required. Parents and caregivers will be provided feedback and next steps for students who are invited to move forward with the identification process. Please contact Ms. Jessie Hollinger, AIG Teacher, for more information (jhollinger@wcpss.net).
School Achievement Award
Bryan Road ES has been recognized for excellence in closing the achievement gap for students with disabilities during the 2022-2023 school year. The 2023 ESEA Distinguished Schools Recognition award was presented during the annual conference of the North Carolina Association of Federal Program Administrators on October 26th. We are grateful for the ongoing efforts of our staff, students, and families in supporting the learning of all students. A special thank you to Ms. Kelly Schuler, Interventionist, for representing BRES at the ceremony.

Fun Run
Thank you, Bryan Road families, for your help and generosity for this year's Boosterthon Fun Run! We met our school goal of $30,000 (and still have donations coming in)! Because of your contributions we are able to support the needs of our children and teachers. Thank you to those who volunteered and to Pauletta Thompson for coordinating this fantastic event!
