Coyote Update
Chandler Early College High School Vol 2 Issue 2
Scaringelli's Segment
It's hard to believe that we are already halfway through the first quarter. Mid-quarter progress reports will be available on Friday, August 18th at 10:00 AM through your Infinite Campus (IC) portal. As a school we send out missing and failing grades every Friday through IC. Students also receive biweekly grade reports from their teachers, as well as updates from me through IC and lift lab. As an accelerated school, it is important for students to be here every day as we move quickly through our curriculum (please see attendance policy below).
Tomorrow night is our Meet the Teacher/Curriculum Night at 5:30 PM. This is a great opportunity to ask any questions you have regarding your child's classes. We will have light refreshments for you to enjoy during our presentation.
This Thursday, the CEC staff will be holding their monthly staff meeting. There will be no 5th hour. If your child stays until the end of the day, please make transportation arrangements. For future staff meeting dates, please go to our website and click on the calendar icon.

CHANDLER EDUCATION FOUNDATION
Home schools have released their dates for the PSAT. Parents wishing their child to take the PSAT should look at their home school's website to sign up for the test.
We are currently scheduling all four in-state universities and CGCC to speak to our students about their schools. This is a great opportunity for your child to hear what colleges can offer.

Infinite Campus Parent/Student Login
Starting July 7th, parents should log into their Infinite Campus account and update their annual student registration. You will find this option in the left index under "More". Updating this annually is extremely important so we have current information on your household. This is also where you can agree or disagree for publicity, internet access and most importantly providing your child with Tylenol should they become ill. Please DO NOT start a New Student registration.
Under "More" you will also need to update the Student Device Agreement. This is currently available for you to complete and must be done on a laptop or PC. Do not use your mobile device to complete this agreement.
Lastly, every year it is highly recommended for you to purchase the $25.00 Device Protection Plan. The fee will appear in Infinite Campus on July 19th and must be paid by September 1st. This can also be found under "More" in InTouch Fee Payments.

Excused Absences
- A parent or legal guardian is asked to call the attendance office within 24 hours of the absence to officially excuse students from school or particular periods of classes during the day. Please call our attendance line at 480.224.3067.
- Students arriving late or leaving early must sign in/out at the front office and have a parent or legal guardian call the front desk to excuse at 480.224.3060.
- No student will be permitted to leave campus without parent verification.
- Students are responsible for making arrangements to make up time missed, as that impacts student progress here at CEC more than any other factor. Please make sure to check Google classroom.
Unexcused Absences are considered truancies. the parent is notified whenever a student is absent. Work cannot be made-up for credit on unexcused absences.
Tardy to Class
- Students are expected to be seated in their classrooms ready to begin class work at the start of each period and immediately after all breaks and lunch.
- A tardy is defined as "not being in an assigned seat at the minute".
- Student's who have habitual tardies may be dropped from their class. If tardies are in first hour, student's schedules may be changed to add to a class later in the day.
- If your child is tardy, please call the front office to excuse them.
Consequences for Absences
- After 4 absences (excluding documented illness) per quarter, the student will be place on an attendance contract. This is their first warning.
- After 8 absences per quarter, student will be issued a second warning that they can be dropped from their in-person class.
- After 10 absences, family will receive a 10-Day Attendance Letter (10 consecutive absences, the state requires schools to automatically withdraw the student, please make sure to be in contact with Mrs. Scaringelli or Mrs. King)

- 13 absences is considered missing 1/3 of the curriculum. In-person classes will be dropped and student's will be placed in a lift lab equivalent.
