Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Fundraiser- Penny War
- A group of students from South High School are trying to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The group has asked that our elementary schools participate in this fundraiser.
- This will be a penny war fundraiser (we will accept other coins and dollar bills). We will collect the money in the classrooms daily.
- If you have any loose change around the house you would like to send in, that would be great.
- We will begin Fundraising this week until Friday, March 1st.
- We will be in a friendly competition between all the other elementary schools in the district. Every penny counts!
Yearbook Cover Contest Winners
We also chose a winner from each grade level to have their designs featured in a collage on the back cover. These grade level winners were: Kindergarten- Maxton Vahcic, 1st Grade- Brooke Kayser, 2nd Grade- Sonja Haqqi, 3rd Grade- Jordyn Gucanac, 4th Grade- Elaina Pierce, and 5th Grade- Allisyn Petranszky.
Congratulations students! We are excited to see the yearbook with your designs. Please look for information on ordering a yearbook in the upcoming weeks.
Carnival Volunteers Needed
On March 19th, we are having a CARNIVAL for a reward for students who have filled up enough Jag Tags for showing PRIDE (Prepared, Respect, Integrity, Dedication, and Excellence) behavior. Students have been working all quarter to fill up as many Jag Tags as they can for showing PRIDE (Prepared, Respect, Integrity, Dedication, and Excellence) behavior! We have given hundreds of Jag Tag punches already this quarter!
To celebrate, students who have earned enough Jag Tags will come to the carnival and can earn even more prizes! We are in need of volunteers to help set up, run the games at the carnival, and help clean up! If you are interested, please sign up by clicking the link below. If you have never signed in our Raptor system before, please stop in before the day of the carnival so we can print your volunteer pass and make the morning of the carnival go quickly and smoothly! Call the Office at 440-942-7244 with any questions.
Outdoor Recess
In Ohio, we know that the weather can change at a moment's notice! Please be sure that your child is dressed appropriately for the changing temperature. We go outside for recess any time that the wind chill is 20 degrees or above. Winter coats, hats, gloves, and boots are recommended. Please reach out to jacque.sparent@weschools.org if you need any help getting these items for your child.
Reminders from Our PTO
Anyone can be a member of our PTO! Join a meeting or help volunteer at an event. Keep up with us on Facebook and join the mailing list to stay in the know. We are always looking for new people to get involved and help make our school the best place it can be for our students! Our PTO typically meets on the third Tuesday of each month at Jefferson Elementary at 6 PM. Free childcare is available at that time, too. You can also join the meeting virtually by following THIS link.

Positive Student Shout-Outs
Students are nominated by our staff members for showing PRIDE and kindness. Keep up the great work!
If you believe your child is experiencing challenges in terms of their mental well-being, it is important to reach out to your principal. To meet your child’s needs, it’s essential to collaborate with the principal and school personnel to explore resources and services available at school. In addition to Crossroads Counselors, the District also has family liaisons and guidance counselors who can provide needed interventions and support.
Crossroads Survey
Please complete this survey if your child has participated in Crossroads programming during the 2023-24 school year. Your feedback is invaluable in helping us understand the effectiveness of our mental health programs and identify areas for improvement. By participating in this survey, you contribute to the ongoing enhancement of the support services we provide to our students. Thank you!
Attendance Matters
Please make every attempt to get your child to school on time as we are required to monitor students’ hours absent, due to House Bill 410. It is important for every student in Ohio to attend school every day. Missing too much school has long-term, negative effects on students, such as lower achievement and graduation rates. It is extremely important to always call our attendance line to let us know when they will be out. Providing a doctor's note when applicable is helpful as well. When students hit certain benchmarks of hours of school missed, you will receive a letter notifying you of this. Certain benchmarks require meetings and/or intervention plans to take place. The highest of benchmarks could require further actions and local resources to be involved. Click HERE for a link to more information regarding House Bill 410.
