Summer moments can cheer up our souls and refresh our minds. But that’s the writer’s bias! I’m Favi (she/her) and summer has always been my favorite time of the year. I’m excited to continue telling you stories of fellow MCHer’s experiences and so much more through the upcoming school year!

1. Attention 2nd+ Year MCHers
We have a large incoming MCH cohort, which means that incoming students need around thirty of you, our 2nd+ year MCH students, to serve as Peers in our MCH Peer Program (this includes those of you who are taking classes online!).
At your suggestion, this year we’re hoping to matching teams of 2nd+ year students with several incoming 1st years.
Please fill out this short, easy (~1 minute) survey by July 30, 2021 to let us know your interest.

3. Webinar: Support through Separation-Coping with the Physical and Emotional Separation…for the Birthing Person (Webinar Series Part 1 of 4)

Join Autumn Mason, a Peer and Re-entry Support Specialist for justice-impacted mothers, as she discusses her experiences of birth and motherhood while incarcerated. Raelene Baker of the Minnesota Doula Project will share her work facilitating childbirth education and attending births of those incarcerated at Minnesota’s only state prison for women. Moderated by MCH alumni and Center faculty member Dr. Rebecca Shlafer.

4. 2021 Summer Institute in Adolescent Health
Monday, July 26 – Thursday, July 29, 2021 | 8:30 AM – 12:00 PM CST
Building on four decades of research, the 2021 Adolescent Health Summer Institute will explore how racial inequity, COVID-19, and mental health concerns are converging to affect young people’s health and healthy development. UMN graduate students may take this for course credit.
