The Texan Star September 18th
Prairie Trail Elementary School Newsletter
A Message from Principal Wendi Vaughn
You will begin to see new friendly faces on elementary campuses, dressed in brightly colored uniforms that are sure to catch your attention. Introducing… LISD’s new Campus Guardians!
As the district fills all 50 open positions and they each complete their required district and state training, you will see a Guardian on every elementary campus on a daily basis.
If you’ve been keeping up with the Superintendent of Schools Dr. Lori Rapp’s monthly newsletters, you know that Lewisville ISD has recently implemented the LISD Guardian program in response to a requirement by the state that all schools in Texas must have at least one armed security personnel on campus.
For more details regarding this program and background information, visit LISD.net/safety.
You may have seen a Guardian at Prairie Trail last Thursday if you were around campus. You will begin to see them more often over the next few weeks.
Have a great week!
Wendi Vaughn

LISD DRESSED TO LEARN COAT DRIVE
Winter is coming and LISD students will need coats!
Dressed to Learn is working with LISD Counseling to make sure they have coats for students who need them. Their goal is to deliver the coats in late-October and they need your help!
• Donate a gently used or new coat — they need boys and girls sizes 4/5-6/7-8/9-10/11 and men's & women's sizes S-M-L-XL. Coats should have a hood, a warm liner and be waterproof or water resistant.
• Don’t have any coats on hand? No problem! You can also donate via Square so that Dress to Learn can purchase a coat to keep a student toasty warm this winter: https://checkout.square.site/buy/BRAGAFFQTRPK4SD3Q5PDEPTI
• PLEASE DROP OFF IN THE BOXES IN THE FRONT LOBBY BY TUESDAY, OCTOBER 10TH & we will get them over to LISD Dressed to Learn. :)
Together we can make sure every child in LISD stays warm this Winter!

Lunch Visitors
Lunch visitors is going great! I Remember, in order to eat lunch with your child:
- arrive at least 5-10 minutes before their schedule lunch time so you can park and get a visitors badge.
- The school schedule is linked on every newsletter at the bottom of the page.
- Everyone must have a state issued identification card or a passport to sign-in.
- Some days are busier than others, so plan ahead and be here on time.
- We love to have you visit for lunch, but we recommend you limit your visits to no more than once a week. Lunch time is valuable time for students to learn communication skills in an unstructured environment with peers.
- We also ask that when you do come, try out some of our conversation starters and put the electronics away.
