Parkland Magnet Middle School

We will have tryouts for boys and girls basketball starting Tuesday. Families will have to register via Synergy. Please note that space for boys basketball tryouts are very limited so please sign up as soon as you can!

The Parkland Counseling Department will be leading MCPS Personal Body Safety Lessons for 7th and 8th grade students through PE and Health classes this week. 6th grade students will receive the lessons in January after Winter Break and Outdoor Education.

Students will be participating in the annual Winter Bazaar on Wednesday, December 20. For the month of December, students will be earning Panther Paws for showing RESPECT and EMPATHY (part of our REACH for the Stars) goals to earn them a ticket to enter our Winter Bazaar where students can then purchase holiday presents for family and friends using Panther Paws. As a result, we are asking for support from our Parkland parent and family community. Here are the ways you can support:

1. We are asking for gift donations. Gifts can be new or like-new items. Please use this link for more information on examples of gift donations.
2. We are asking for donations of wrapping paper and gift bags.
3. We are asking families to volunteer to help set up, break down tables, and/or help with wrapping gifts. Please use this Sign-Up Genius to volunteer.

Lastly, we are asking our Parkland parent and family community to sign up to support the Staff Holiday Luncheon on Wednesday, December 20. Please use the link here to sign-up for contributing a dish.

It is that time of year again! Wheaton Poms are hosting the annual Jr Pom Camp for children ages 3 to 12 on December 9th at Wheaton High School. The camp will take place in the gym from 9AM to 11AM, with a performance at the boys' basketball game on December 11th. We would love it if your child would join us! The cost before December 9th is only $25, which includes a t-shirt and 1 admission ticket to the basketball game. After December 9th, the cost goes up to $35. Registration and payment information is below. You must make payment (not only register) before December 9th in order to get the discounted rate. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Parkland's Minority Scholars Program is filming a short film for the MCPS Anti-Racist Film Festival in February. All students are free to join and earn 15 SSL Hours.
