Boys Cross Country
The Boys Cross Country (XC) team is off to a 5-0 start in the Bicentennial League. An important note is that in XC team results are dependent on five runners not an individual. The boys top five runners currently are Shane Cohen, Connor McFadden, Ben Zonshayn, Thomas Aust & Len Sassaman. John Davies has also improved his time in the first few weeks of the season.
In District 1 they are currently ranked 5th and currently sit in 3rd place in the BAL. Tuesday October 3rd will be a big day as the boys will compete in the 2nd BAL Race at Rose Tree Park. They will compete against Holy Ghost, Valley Forge, Jenkintown, Dock & Phil-Mont.
Shane Cohen was able to win the first league meet back on September 12th with a time of 18:27. Also in that race Connor McFadden, Ben Zonshayn & Thomas Aust finished in the top 10. Cohen also finished 8th in the Penncrest Invitational on September 23rd.
The BAL Championships will be held on October 18th at Tyler State Park. The District I Championships will be at Lehigh University on October 27th. The PIAA State Championships will be Saturday November 4th in Hershey PA.
Girls Cross Country
The team has only participated in the League Meet at Tyler State Park on September 12th, where they went 1-3. In that race Nicole Roche, Sydney Rubin & Amy Yoon all finished in the top 20. The following week they ran another meet at Tyler State Park this time in the Council Rock Invitational. Alexis Lohin showed the greatest improvement between races by improving her time by almost 5 minutes.
The girls will participate in two more invitationals (William Tennent 10/7 & Neshaminy 10/14) as well as the 2nd BAL League Meet which just like the boys will be raced at Rose Tree Park. The girls will get another chance to conquer Tyler State Park at the BAL Championships which will be held on October 18th.. The District I Championships will be at Lehigh University on October 27th. The PIAA State Championships will be Saturday November 4th in Hershey PA.
Golf
On Wednesday September 20th the boys traveled to beautiful Makefield Highlands for the BAL Championships. The Lions had two qualifiers for the District match which will be October 9th and 10th at Turtle Creek CC. Our qualifiers were Brennan Bostock & Max Cousins.
The golf season for the team will wrap the first week in October as the team will face Devon Prep, New Hope & Holy Ghost Prep.
Girls Tennis
They have repeated as champions of the BAL and will be the number one seed in the District 1 AA team tournament. Districts will be held October 10th. The girls will finish up their regular season the first week in October with matches @ Perkiomen School, @ Harriton and @ George School.
Sophomore Ally Cheiken and Junior Elizabeth Berzin took home silver and bronze at the BAL Singles tournament which helped them both qualify for District Singles which will be held October 6th and 7th.
The BAL Doubles Tournament will be at Lower Moreland HS on October 13th, with District Doubles being the following weekend.
Boys Soccer
Upcoming important games for the Lions are October 4th and 5th as they host both Holy Ghost Prep and Devon Prep. These games will be good measuring sticks to see the progress they have made, and wins could really help propel them into districts.
Senior Night for the Lions will be on Friday Oct 13th as they take on Springfield Township at 7:15. Currently Springfield sits just ahead of our Lions in the district rankings, so this game could essentially be a play-in game, with the winner qualifying for that final playoff spot.
Field Hockey
Senior Night for the girls will be on October 11th vs. Plumstead Christian on the turf at 7:00 PM.
Football
In the Delco Christian game Jr. QB Coleman Peppleman had a historic day setting the school's single game record for most TD passes in a game with 4. If Peppleman can continue this success this won't be the last we hear of him etching his name into the record books.
Other early season playmakers for our football team have been Sr. Matt Stefurak and Jr. Forrest Keys. Both guys are buying into the new coaching philosophy and results are starting to show.
On Thursday September 28th, the team traveled to Morrisville and pulled out a 12-7 win. It was the first win on the season for the Lions, and the first for Coach Beck in his career. It was a total team effort and the boys earned the hard fought victory.
The Lions will face off against ANC and Valley Forge the next two weeks on the road. Homecoming will be on the 21st of October vs. New Hope. The regular season will conclude with a game Friday night October 27th under the lights vs. Bristol 7:00
Girls Soccer
The Lady Lions have been led by Miah Gomez, Kayla O'Malley, Allison Asmann & Brianna Costa in the early going. They currently sit in the all important 4th spot in regards to district seeding. The first four seeds get a bye, before hosting a quarterfinal playoff match.
The girls have big games coming up with Dock on Oct. 12th, New Hope on Oct. 17th and Senior Night will be at home on the turf vs. CB South. The game will be at 7:00.
