NEW AT CONFERENCES THIS WEEK

In the gym will be some stations and activities for you to enjoy with your student:

1-- Kindness Notes that can be written for anyone in the school. Leave them in the basket and we'll be sure they get delivered. Name and Grade level please :)

2-- Photo Opportunity in the gym created by Ms. Baack and our fifth grade students-- BE THE 'I' IN KIND

3-- Read your teacher's favorite picture book with your parent. Each teacher is providing me with their favorite picture book and you can stop in the gym and read with your student.

4-- Parent Survey-- There will be chromebooks available to complete the Parent Survey.

Dental Connections... A Wonderful Service to Families!

On Feb 19-21, the Smile Squad will be on site at Valerius. “Dental Connections” is a dental education & treatment program and is a private not-for-profit community health center providing dental services to families in Central Iowa. If you are interested in taking advantage of this or have questions, please call Jenny Villegas, Val Nurse, by Feb 14th, at 515-457-6503. See the FAQs below.

Dental Connections Frequently Asked Questions:

Are younger sibling’s able to attend that are not at Valerius?

Yes (If time and space allowed)- At this time we ask you to fill out a form for your other child if you think they are able to sit still in the mobile unit and allow the Dentist/Hygienist to work on their teeth. (We will notify you if your child is able to participate once all forms are handed in.)

Do the parents need to attend?

No- Parents do not need to come for your students visit. This is a great opportunity for working parents to get their child’s dental checkup done without having to miss work.

Can I still participate if I have insurance? (Hawk-I, Medicaid, or Private Insurance)

Yes- All children are able to participate. We ask that you fill out your insurance card information along with your child’s current dentist so that Dental Connections can communicate with them and submit the treatment and x-rays to them if needed.

Dental Connections will submit a bill to your insurance but will not submit a bill to you. If your child has already had a dental cleaning or x-rays within the last 6 months, please mark this on the form and make sure to write the child’s Dentist and number so Dental Connections has that information.
