The Purpose of These Days

In a typical school year, the first two days of the school, teachers use the time to get to know their kids and conduct informal assessments. We planned to have students participate in some standardized assessments these days using MAPs and to begin building those relationships. However, some technical issues need a resolution before those assessments can be administered remotely. Once those technical issues are solved, students will be taking baseline assessments in Reading and Math this year.

In this newsletter, you will find all the information you and your children will need to prepare for Thursday and Friday of this week. Please read the newsletter and watch the video to prepare your child to start at 8:00 am on Thursday.

Prior to Thursday

  • Log into you AUSD Google Account (Video Below and click here if you forgot your login)
  • Accept all the invitations to your teacher's Google Classrooms
  • Log in to StudentVUE to see that you are enrolled in: (Help)
    • 8 classes
    • Periods 1 - 8
    • Grade level Math, English, Science Social Studies, Elective, and PE

    On Thursday, August 20

    • At 8:00 am students will log into their AUSD Google Account.
    • Then they will join their Learning Strategies Class in Google Classroom
    • Once they are in their Learning Strategies Class they will find all the links and codes to join their teacher in their virtual classroom (Zoom or Google Meet).
    • If there are technical issues logging in join this virtual meeting to get assistance. Because the information being shared between parties is private you may have to be in the waiting room for a period of time or you can call JMMS Counselor, Jane Smith at (619) 445-3245 x 603.
    • After that class ends at 8:30 am, students will have a five-minute break and then they will log into their period 3 Google Classroom. (Use StudentVue to see all of your classes).
    • They will continue this schedule to meet the remainder of their odd period teachers (5 & 7).

    On Friday, August 21 (This is a repeat of Thursday except students go to period 4, 6 & 8).

    • At 8:00 am students will log into their AUSD Google Account.
    • Then they will join their Learning Strategies Class in Google Classroom
