Progress Reports
Students and families, the first progress reports of the school year were shared via email on Friday, 1 Sept. The next set of progress reports will arrive right as fall break begins on 6 Oct, which marks the half way point through first semester. Students, work to stay on top of your studies; your growth and achievement matter!
SAVE THE DATE! Fall Family Conferences
FALL FAMILY CONFERENCES
- Please take note of the name change from what has previously been called "parent-teacher conferences" to "family conferences." We would like for students to take an active role in these meetings. Teachers will help prepare them to lead conferences themselves!
- We will host a student work showcase, which helps our community see the great work students produce in class, as well as grade level family meetings, where families can find helpful information for their students to navigate each school year successfully.
More information is forthcoming with greater detail. We look forward to this time with you!

AVID at SCHS
AVID has expanded to almost 150 students this year at Sand Creek! The 9th grade AVID class has been busy getting organized and learning about the resources around the building. They are getting set up to be successful in their classes. Seniors have been getting ready to start applying to colleges. They have had the chance to talk to an admission counselor from UCCS and get advice from former students who are currently attending a variety of colleges from around the state. Some AVID students will be visiting Colorado College on September 12th and many of the 11th and 12th grade AVID students will attend a regional college fair on September 29th held at Colorado College.

SCHS Shining Stars
Students took the lead in nominating one another this month! Here are our honorees:
- Maeric Bell's nominator wants everyone to know that Maeric perseveres and deserves recognition for his hard work!
- Carson Lucero's nominator states that they've only seen Carson as someone positive and outgoing. He is also helpful and understanding!
We are proud of you, Maeric and Carson! Your example makes our school a better place!
Kum N Go Update
We strive to be good neighbors with local business and with surrounding homes, and we want them to do the same with us as well.
Students, as many of you know, Kum N Go changed expectations to keep backpacks outside of the business. Please take care of your belongings by leaving them at school or having a classmate stick around the backpacks while another shops. When you purchase items, make sure to ask for a receipt so you have a record of what you purchased.
The manager has also implemented an incentive program. She keeps track of days that go smoothly for purchases. After reaching a certain point, she will provide pizza to student customers after school.
Please contact Kum N Go for further details.
