Happy 2024 Rider Families! We hope you and your family had a relaxing holiday season.

As the 2023-2024 school year moves forward, we have a number of upcoming activities. The first semester will end on Friday, January 12. Later in the third quarter our freshmen, sophomore and junior students will be participating in the PreACT, NDSA Science and ACT assessments. Testing will occur between the dates of Mar. 2 – Apr. 2. You will also be receiving additional information as we move closer to the testing window.

We are beginning to plan for the 2024-25 school year. Freshman, sophomores, and juniors will be registering for next year’s classes in January and February. Registration for classes will be done online. An email with a guide sheet on the registration process will be emailed to all families. We do have our course description book online at our school website: https://redriver.gfschools.org/academics/students/course-registration

Finally, please make note of the following upcoming dates:

• Tuesday, January 2 – School Resumes

• Friday, January 12 – end of 1st semester

• Semester testing will occur on Thursday and Friday, January 11 & 12.

• No School: Monday, January 15 – Martin Luther King Jr. Day & Teacher Professional Development

The month of December was full of holiday spirit within the HOSA chapter. At our monthly meeting members played a fun round of HOSA bowl and started to prepare for their State HOSA competitions. During the presentation, members made Christmas themed cookies and enjoyed hot chocolate! Looking forward to a great 2024 with RRHS HOSA! Happy New Year!

Grand Forks Public Schools has added work-based learning courses for the 2023-2024 school year.

An exciting new opportunity will be available to students this coming summer and fall. Work-based

learning courses will allow qualified students to work for a local business and get high school credit at the same time.

One step in preparing students for this opportunity is the completion of a Compass Profile. When filling out the Compass Profile, students enter the courses they have taken during high school, their hobbies and interests, and they complete a personality profile. This data is used to determine what career paths might be a good fit for their skill set.

If your child has filled out the Compass Profile you may have received an email from Golden Path

Solutions asking for permission to view student data in order to match your child with a job opportunity. Please note that granting this permission is not a requirement for participation in work-based learning opportunities or courses.
