The ROAR
No.10 October 22, 2023
This is the day the LORD has made; REJOICE and be GLAD in it! -Psalm 118:24
MORNING DEVOTION SCRIPTURES
Mr. Yearwood welcomes students each day by going over a thought and scripture for the day. Last week's scriptures were:
- Matthew 7:1-2
- Matthew 7:7-8,11
- Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
- Psalm 4:7
KEEPING IT REAL
On Tuesday, October 17th and Thursday, October 19th our 9th grade students had a great opportunity to learn about the impact of financial choices, budgeting, education, and careers through the Keeping It Real program provided by Cullman Economic Development.
Each student was assigned a different family scenario that included whether or not they were married, had children, and what their career was. With the help of some community volunteers, students took their scenarios and worked their way through a budgeting activity that included paying for everyday things and for things that are sometimes unexpected.
The students did a fantastic job and learned a lot about real life!
One of our favorite parts was the report we received back from the facilitator who told us that almost every student found a way to work into their budget a way to donate to charity!
COLLEGE APPLICATION WEEK
This is an exciting time for seniors! However, this time can also be filled with anxiousness and stress. Please lift up these young men and women in your prayers as they plan for the future and post-secondary education plans.
Highlights from Inside the Classroom
What time is it?
Kindergarten students in Mrs. Parker's class have been learning how to tell time.
Finger Painting Fun
Every once and a while getting messy is the highlight of the day. Kindergarten students enjoyed finger painting some fall creations.
Physically Fit
Students in grades PK-6 enjoy time with Coach Mo, Coach Cydney, and Mrs. Nikki each day working their muscles. Looks like these students are taking a turn at the push up station.
Pledge to the Bible
3rd grade students were caught this week brushing up on their pledge to the Bible, God's Holy Word.
Always Improving
Mrs. Vermillion's 2nd grade students are always working hard as they continue to grow academically and spiritually.
Books of the Bible
Mrs. Barnett's students are seen here reviewing some of the books of the Bible. We love how God's word is integrated into our study of history!
Bb is for Basketball
Mrs. Snow's students have been talking about the letter Bb.
As a side note... Mrs. Snow is also helping coach our upper school basketball girls.
Confidence to Speak
Students at CCS are encouraged to speak in front of their peers. This helps them build confidence and skill in speaking. Here you can see an example of a student sharing thoughts with the class.
DNA Extraction
Upper school Biology students have been studying DNA with Mrs. Adams. This lab using strawberries was a great way to learn how to break down cells to release DNA.
XC COUNTRY FINISHES SEASON STRONG
Our Cross Country teams finished a fantastic season on Saturday!
At the St. Bernard Oktoberfest meet, runners finished strong as they completed one of the most difficult courses of the season.
Congratulations to Kenzy Nail who finished 12th and Elisabeth DeCicco who finished 3rd in the JV Girls Division!
FALL FESTIVAL FUN
If you did not get to join us, you missed a great evening of family fun at the Fall Festival!
Families enjoyed an afternoon of old fashioned fun with games like a sucker pull, ring toss, a cake walk, and there was even a petting zoo.
Our PTF worked so hard and did an amazing job getting this event together! An estimated 300+ people were in attendance at the event.

Are you ready to FEED THE NEED?
FEED THE NEED: School Wide Service Project
Our FEED THE NEED service project is underway!
We are so excited about this opportunity for not only our school to raise much needed funds, but more importantly the opportunity for our students to develop missional thinking and participate in mission service as disciples for the Kingdom.
During each phase/week of the project, we will ask our families to pray over the project in specific ways. This countdown of prayer to packing day will last for 5 weeks.
This week, WEEK 5, we will focus on THE JOY OF GIVING!
Our scripture reference is taken from 2 Corinthians.
The Cheerful Giver
6 The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 7 Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. 9 As it is written,
“He has distributed freely, he has given to the poor;
his righteousness endures forever.”
