Recycling beyond bottles and cans! While at SBHS this week, I got to see the incredible recycled art displayed in the lobby. Using recycled elements like a size 8 shoe, bottle caps, computer parts, fan parts, straws and so much more, students have created two very impressive pieces. Thank you to Principal Burke for posing with me. Stop by and see it if you are the high school!
The safety of our students and staff remains our top priority. I had the pleasure of attending a packed training in Waterbury yesterday with Senior Director of Operations and Finance Tim Jarvis and teachers and principals from across our schools. Would you believe that the event was so well attended that they ran out of tables and Tim and I tucked ourselves by the coffee station and John Craig by the pastries?! Yes, there was such a high attendance among Vermont educators that the house was literally packed! Go VTEd! The training focused on Developing Emergency Operations Plans for K-12 and was facilitated by Readiness in Emergency Management for Schools. Thanks to our exceptional team for attending.
SBHS Unified Basketball season started this week! The team is made up of neurodiverse and neurotypical students with the goals to redefine skills, create friendships and develop independence. They’ve played two games and their record is now 1-1! Come out and support them! The full schedule of their games is available here.
With support from the social studies department at Tuttle, student council and student government have been reinstated! Students interested in running needed 15 signatures to get on the ballot. Then the campaign began. Posters were created and candidates gave a speech. Elections were held last week, and the winners were announced on Monday. The new Student Council will start meeting weekly to discuss the issues that are important to the students. Congratulations to the newly elected council!

The committee will include representatives of all stakeholders: Board, Administrator, Teacher, Support Staff, Students, and community members.
The committee will meet regularly to develop a candidate grid, interview questions, and interview evaluations based on the approved job description and to review and select a slate of candidates. Elissa/Alysia will report on the progress
Second and third-round interviews with Administrative Team and Executive team will take place with two finalists

Bus Drivers & Bus Aids
Transports students over established routes and special trips
Full and part time positions available
Regular driver’s license for Van Drivers. Commercial Drivers license (CDL) class B, Senior Vermont Operator's license with Vermont School Bus Endorsement needed for Bus Drivers. Training provided to qualifying candidates for special licensure. Substitute positions are also available.
Bus Aids assist in providing safe transportation of assigned students and facilitates good student conduct while in transit.
