Principal's Message
Kindness Week
Our Kindness campaign is in full swing. Students have been adding positive statements to our "sprinkle the World With Kindness" bulletin board. It has been great to see students of all grade levels participate. Our Leadership students have also been recognizing entire classrooms for kind acts (keeping our campus clean, helping one another) with the "Caught Being Kind" classroom door hang. Keep up the great work Mustangs!
Science Fair
The 2023 Murwood Science Fair will be Thursday, March 9th and the students are excited! This is a fun opportunity for students to investigate their own questions about the natural world. Any student who wants to participate in the Science Fair must return their entry form by Wednesday, February 1st. Mrs. Smith will review the project proposal and return it with a project guide and display board. Please reach out to Mrs. Smith (jsmith@walnutcreeksd.org) with any questions.
Positive Parenting Program
“Raising children and youth to become healthy, confident, capable individuals is the most important and rewarding job parents and caregivers have, but sometimes it’s also the hardest job. That’s why proven strategies and support from programs such as the Triple P – Positive Parenting Program are here to help,” Nicole Young.
January is Positive Parenting Awareness Month. C.O.P.E. offers wonderful resources to support parents, including this monthly newsletter. This month’s column is focused on building your child’s emotional resiliency. Learn more about C.O.P.E. and what is offered here.
Happy Lunar New Year to all of our families that are celebrating!

Notes From The Office
Return to Murwood Survey
Believe it or not it is already time to start planning our enrollment for the 2023-24 school year!! This process begins with our TK & Kindergarten pre-registration (the priority window closes on 1/31/23). If your child is currently enrolled in TK or K you DO NOT need to register them for next year. They will automatically roll up to the next grade level as do our 1st thru 5th graders.
Our next step is to determine who will be returning for the 2023-24 school year. Your assistance in helping us with this is greatly appreciated. Please take a moment to complete our RETURN TO MURWOOD SURVEY. Even if you are unsure of your plans for next year, please submit a response. If your plans change at any time before the start of the new school year, simply email the office.
As always, thank you for your support.

Office Manager
Multicultural Night
We are looking for performers for our Multicultural Night on February 9, 2023.
We are hoping members of our Murwood community will represent their culture through artistic performance – dancing, singing, poem recitation, etc.
If you, or a group you are part of, would like to perform, please reach out to Gillian Vivatson - gvivatson@me.com.

Auction Donations
Do you know a business or person who may want to donate to our auction? Or perhaps you want to donate? Donating to the auction gives back to our school/students AND provides advertising for the business. Win-win!
Please help us collect auction items/donations by checking out and sharing our donation letter and form.
Turn Up The Heat is Coming Feb. 6-10!
Get ready to turn up the heat for our school! To fulfill our $1.4 million pledge to our districts, WCEF is reaching out to all families with a goal to raise an additional $100,000 from February 6-10. Help us show gratitude for our TK-5 Art, Music and Science Lab programs; Electives at WCI and Tice; and more classes and the Wellness Center at top-ranked Las Lomas by donating during Turn UP The Heat. As a bonus, the TK-8 school with the most participation increase wins a popsicle party!
On February 6, your student will bring home a red envelope. Fill the envelope with a donation and return to school. Now is the time to join the movement and help us ignite a brighter future for all.
Every gift, in any amount, makes a difference for your child and every student. Donate today! Not sure if you have donated? Email database@wcefk12.org.
Chevron is WCEF’s newest business partner!
WCEF is proud to announce Chevron as a 2022-23 Diamond Business Partner. Chevron continues its commitment in its support for science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education helping communities prosper. The partnership with Chevron ensures more STEM opportunities for 5,000 students at eight public schools including all those in Transitional Kindergarten thru 5th grade taking weekly science lab; and helps fund electives classes like Robotics, Advanced Middle School Math, AP Physics, and more for students in grades 6-12 at Tice Creek, WCI, and Las Lomas High School. Our students receive a robust STEM education thanks to business partners like Chevron!
