FJVD Weekly Info
We Live the Word!
From the Principal's Desk
The number of days left in the school year may be winding down, but there's still plenty of great things happening at Father Doyle School! Sometimes I am truly astonished at the amazing things our school community accomplishes together. Here's just a short list of the many wonderful events, activities, and initiatives coming up or currently underway:
- We started this week with our annual May Crowning and Procession led by our 8th grade students.
- Teachers and staff have been hard at work, including at our 1:30pm dismissal day this week, revising our ELA curriculum and writing standards, as well as drafting new disciplinary guidelines for the upcoming school year.
- Our student-led Dance Club is preparing for their performance next week. Thank you to 6th grader Ms. Hannah for all of her hard work!
- The junior and grammar soccer seasons are in full-swing. Special congratulations to our junior team who, to date, remain undefeated. Way to go Saints!
- Students in grades PK-3 are learning all about entrepreneurship and marketing in our "My First Lemonade Stand" after school program presented by SPARK Business Academy.
- Middle school students have begun their work on their annual Capstone Project, a new initiative started last year at Father Doyle School which calls on students to connect ideas and information across the content areas of literature, Religion, art, social studies, and Language Arts.
- We held our first FJVD Youth Group meeting this past Wednesday and had a great time! All students in grades 4-8 are invited to join us for our next Youth Group meeting on Wednesday, May 24th beginning at 6:15pm in the Church.
All of this, not to mention preparation for all of our end-of-year activities including Field Day, PK, Kindergarten, and 8th Grade Graduation, and our annual 4th-8th Grade Awards Ceremony. See the email sent to parents and families this afternoon for more details.
Please be sure to continue reading for important updates and information for the coming weeks!
