This Sunday is the deadline for Auction Donation forms! See Debbi after the service if you have any questions. Also, you can continue to bring in items to donate to the Chance Auction up until the Auction date itself (Nov. 12).

Just for this month book club will be THURSDAY, OCTOBER 20 at 7:00 pm instead of Friday, October 21.

SEARCH by Michelle Huneven

Dana Potowski is a restaurant critic and food writer and a long time member of a progressive UU Congregation in Southern California. Under pressure to find her next book idea, she agrees to join The church search committee for a new minister, and resolves to secretly pen a memoir, with recipes, about the experience. That memoir, SEARCH, follows the travails of the committee and their candidates – And becomes its own media sensation.

Anyone is welcome to attend this meeting as this is an interesting and fun book regarding the UU minister search!

October 30 will be a 5th Sunday. On this date we will be trying out a new "Stay awhile longer after service and mingle, communicate with others day" which will temporarily replace the former 5th Sunday shared meal day. We'll be doing bagels and baked goods. Those who like to bake are invited to break out their talent and bring items to share for coffee hour. Vegan, vegetarian, no gluten, regular, a recipe from a magazine, try it on us before you take it to the relatives for the holidays, etc.. Please mark items so folks know what it is. Folks can also support their local bakeries too! Please bring items to the kitchen before service and share prep / serving / warming suggestions with the Brew Crew. We have a great assortment of plates / trays to put things on. There will be the usual beverages, fruit, etc. available also.

Please consider serving as a Worship Associate! You know, the person who opens and closes every Sunday service. See Colby Tippins or Deb Dagavarian if you're interested. Anyone who can read is eligible! We need you!

Richard Schurig has been providing "sentry duty" in our vestibule for our Sunday services.

He is ready for a break so that he may enjoy the service. Please see Richard if you are able to help with this. He will make it easy for you to step in. All genders and ages are welcome to apply.

We will not be having Coffee Hour on November 6. If you linger after the service, you may find yourself accosted by a mop, broom, or duster! Yes, this will be our semi-annual Blue Jean Sunday. We have both outdoor and indoor tasks that need volunteers to accomplish. At our last BJS, Richard provided an elegant and delicious lunch - after the work was done! I hear he has quite the menu planned for November 6..... Stay for fellowship and the reward of caring for our physical Spiritual Home.

What does it mean to be authentically spiritual in our day and age? What are the “fruits of the spirit”? How do you know you are progressing on your path? How do we know whether genuine spirituality is the source of our social justice work rather than partisanship, ideology, or tribalism? These teachings help us find meaning in our suffering, transcendence amidst our difficulties, and support during our grief.
