Straight from the Hardt
Hello Ridgeline Families- We have certainly enjoyed the spoils of our amazing fall weather! What a gift to our outdoor activities and classes to be able to enjoy it.
Girls softball, soccer, and volleyball are battling for playoff spots or battling for a berth to state! Cross country continues run hard and looks to qualify for state as well. The Ridgeline Regiment continues to rack up awards and have become the team to beat at competitions. We wish all our teams the Best of Luck and remember to enjoy every moment of every competition and just Do Your Best!
We are pleased to have the opportunity to Honor all men and women who have served or are still serving our country in the armed forces. We will have a Veteran’s Day assembly at 9:45am on Thursday, November 10. This assembly is open to friends, families, and neighbors of Ridgeline students. I mean that—bring your dad, grandma, next door neighbor, all those who have served or those who also want to honor their loved ones who served and may no longer be with us. See below another way you can recognize a Veteran on our own Ridgeline Veteran’s Honor Wall.
We’re going to be increasing our awareness and education efforts regarding the danger of Fentanyl in our community. It is a serious concern and we all need to be aware of what is happening in our children’s lives, and talk with them frequently. Most young people understand that even very small amounts of Fentanyl can kill you and wouldn’t knowingly take it. The real danger is that any type of pill could be pure Fentanyl or laced with Fentanyl-- so what a student might think will just give them a buzz, could actually make them very sick or worse. If you have concerns about your own child maybe not making the best choices and you think we could help, reach out to their grade level counselor. In addition, if you have information from out in the community that would help us to keep the school clean and safe, please contact an administrator. There are three useful links here to provide more information about Fentanyl in our region. Please take a look at it.
I appreciate our families and this community out here in the valley because we do pay attention to what is happening around us and what is influencing our kids. I’d say raising kids is as hard as it’s ever been because of how much our world has changed with technology. I applaud you and encourage you to stay strong and parent on!
Make it a great weekend! --Mr. Hardt

Each year, the National Association of College Admission Counseling (NACAC) sponsors a series of major college fairs across the country. These college fairs provide students and their families access to a wide variety of colleges and universities from across the country and the world. We are fortunate to have the Spokane National College Fair here in Spokane on Tuesday, November 1, with sessions in the morning (9:00 - 12:00) and evening (6:00 - 8:00) at the Spokane Convention Center. Mrs. McMurtrey and Mr. Spraggins will take a bus of junior students to the morning session (space limited and seats offered on first come, first served basis). Interested juniors should speak with Mrs. McMurtrey or Mr. Spraggins for additional details. We strongly encourage students and families of all grade levels to attend the evening session. RHS Cheerleaders
RHS cheer along with the Regiment and girls XC team cheered on the runners at Liberty Creek’s move-a-thon last Thursday!
Fieldtrip
Some students from the AI and CI classrooms traveled to the Spokane Valley Fire Department Station #3 in Liberty Lake. The fire crew received an emergency call while we were there, and the students got to watch the fire truck leave the station.
We traveled to Safeway to choose pumpkins and picked up McDonalds takeout on our way back to school.
Holocaust exhibit
Ms. Dejardins Holocaust class was fortunate enough to snag a field trip spot to Gonzaga University’s Foley Library. There, students were able to see a traveling Holocaust exhibit that was only granted to 50 libraries around the country. Students got an in depth look at the events of the Holocaust, and learned about America’s role in WW2. It was an amazing, one of a kind experience.
AP Environmental Science classes
Ms. Larsen's AP Environmental Science classes worked with The Lands Council to restore a riparian zone along Thompson Creek in Newman Lake. Students did important work, planting 202 trees along the creek. They learned how vegetation along stream beds help contain nutrients from going downstream, prevent soil erosion and lower the water temperatures for a healthy stream. They also had the opportunity to learn about Beaver Dam Analogs (human made dams) that help slow the water, control nutrients and prevent erosion.
But the best part of the day was the smiles! It was great to see kids out in nature with their hands in the dirt. It was a GREAT DAY to be a FALCON!
Reminder for Playoff Games

Ridgeline Business Club
We are so proud of our almost 30 Ridgeline Business Club members who attended the FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) Fall Conference in Spokane Valley on Thursday, October 20th. Our Falcons represented so well with their thoughtful questions, and great citizenship! They got to hear from community business CEO's, lawyers, entrepreneurs, and engineers about leadership skills, and how to be successful in business and life. Our very own Hailey Bronec, the Northeast Region Vice President of Washington State FBLA, helped to plan the entire event along with our Regional Advisor, Adam Smith from Cheney. Thank you both for making the day valuable for all of our NE Region students! Now, let's get pumped for the upcoming regional competitions for DECA and FBLA! Go Falcons!
If you are interested in joining the Ridgeline Business Club see Mrs. Demarest in E202 or Mrs. Jeske in E204 to join in on the fun!

We would like to honor the veterans in your family during Veterans Day next month. We have a few questions and you can upload a photograph of your family members and closest friends who have served. These vets will be honored during the assembly and throughout the week on our video screens in the Commons.
You can only fill out one form, but each form can accept up to 5 veterans. We are requesting students and staff to fill out information for one veteran, but you can add up to four more if you have a lot of service history in your immediate family.
Photographs in uniform are wonderful, but it is not required that uploaded photos are of someone in their uniform. Please complete submissions by Thursday, November 4th so we can include your honorees in the assembly the following week. Thank you for helping us honor those who you are close to.
