Lost and Found
Has your student recently lost a sweatshirt, hoodie, jacket, pants (yes, pants!), lunchbox, water bottle or the contents of their locker? Make sure you remind them to check the lost and found! The lost and found will be accessible during Parent Teacher Conferences, so make sure you stop by to see if anything looks familiar. Everything not claimed at the end of the trimester will be donated. Thank you!
Yearbook Orders
Yearbook sales are live for the 23-24 school year. The cost for a copy is $30. Yearbooks can be purchased online through My School Bucks, OR with cash or check in the main office. The deadline to secure a copy is Wednesday, December 13. After this date, yearbooks will be sold on a first come, first serve basis. If you have any questions, contact Ms. Apuli (mapuli@d64.org) or Ms. Dobrydnio (edobrydnio@d64.org).
We are also seeking student photos from any and all school events. If you have any to share, you can send them over through either of the following options:
Upload through yearbookforever.com (code: eagles)
Download the Yearbook Snap mobile app from the App Store or Google Play (code: eagles)
Email your photos directly to the yearbook sponsors → mapuli@d64.org / edobrydnio@d64.org
Picture Orders and Retake Day
Students that had their pictures taken in September either received pictures in homeroom on Wednesday OR a postcard with a preview of the picture and a unique order code. If you have not seen them yet, make sure that your student is reminded to bring them home. If your student has misplaced their unique order code, orders can be placed at ordercp.com with the code 10042402. If you ordered a classroom composite picture, those will be delivered at a later date.
Retakes are on October 24th, along with Group and Team picture day. Original picture orders must be returned in order to not be charged for the retake. Students should notify their homeroom teacher if they will be taking retakes.

September S.O.A.R.S Wednesday Update
Students meet for an extended homeroom period each Wednesday for team building/school-wide activities and receive direct instruction in social-emotional learning through our Second Step program. We recently introduced/reviewed our S.O.A.R.S. matrix to all students during the first few days of school. S.O.A.R.S. is an acronym that means the following: Showing respect, Offering empathy, Acts safely, be Responsible for learning and behavior, and Show self-regulation and self-awareness. The emphasis for this school year is building a school community — “Together, We Are Emerson. Students decorated a banner that embodies this slogan, while incorporating ways in which we will demonstrate S.O.A.R.S. behaviors. In addition, we had our annual Back to School Assembly which included introductions of staff members and Minute-to-Win-It Games. We will continue to revisit this matrix as we build a school community that is safe and inclusive for all.
We use the Second Step program to promote skills and attitudes that increase students’ success in school, help students get along with others, and prevent violence, bullying, and substance abuse. Second Step is based on research in three key areas: early adolescent development, risk and protective factors, and instructional practices to support the program’s goals. Each lesson is specific to and appropriate for each grade level.
