BCS District Update -

At their Regular Meeting on July 24, 2023, Bronson's Board of Education approved a Sinking Fund Resolution which includes ballot language for the renewal of the current sinking fund for voters to consider on the November ballot. The proposed renewal would renew the sinking fund at the current Tax Rate (1.9766 mills) to generate approximately $460,000/year, if collected.

Be on the lookout for additional information pertaining to this proposal.

To allow for more space for classrooms at the Jr/Sr High School, our Business Office staff has moved back to Chicago Street School. The following BCS departments are now housed at CSS:

• Business Office (Business Manager and Payroll/HR/Accounts Payable)
• Technology
• Transportation

Should a need arise that warrants a visit to that office, entry is on the south side of the building.

As you know, the ISD's GSRP and Head Start programs are also housed at CSS. Entry for these programs is now on the north side of the building.

*The office of the interim superintendent (Kate Wall) and administrative assistant (Jolette Thole) remain at the Jr/Sr High School*

As you know, the district is utilizing ESSER II & III funds (supplementing with general fund dollars) to improve air quality/HVAC systems at Bronson Jr/Sr High School.

As you can imagine, the project is quite extensive and quite a bit of work has already taken place. The goal is to have HVAC units and duct work in place this summer. Due to lead times on some of the larger pieces of equipment required to increase our electrical capacity, we will likely not be able to run the new equipment until next school year.

Bronson Community Schools will again have Delayed Start Fridays for the 23-24 school year to provide additional professional learning opportunities for teaching staff.

* Bus routes will run 15 minutes later on FULL-DAY Fridays throughout the entirety of the school year - beginning on Friday, August 25th.

Student drop-off and instructional start times will be shared with families soon!

The Bronson Shell Station has designated and marked one pump as "The Giving Pump" and will donate 1 cent/gallon of gas pumped on that pump back to Bronson Community Schools. This fundraiser runs until September 30th.
