A Message from Mrs. Stauffer
Dear Rainbow Families,
Here we are in the month of December! Holiday decorations are sprouting up everywhere as we begin preparing for the holiday season. There is no doubt that this is a wonderfully busy time of year. The hustle and bustle of the holiday season can sometimes be stressful for both adults and children. Continue to support your child in his/her school success by ensuring a bed time is maintained during this busy time time of year. Studies show that adequate sleep supports learning, brain development, and concentration; all of which contribute to school success! Please help us as we encourage our students to stay focused during instruction.
We will be celebrating school and classroom December Festivities on December 20, 2023. Your child’s teacher will be providing you with classroom December Festivities information. If you are donating a treat for classroom festivities, all treat donations must be store-bought items.
The drop in temperatures last week reminds us that students need to come to school properly dressed for the weather. Please take the weather into consideration when you dress your child for the day. As the weather gets cooler, jackets and coats will be necessary for your child to bring to school. Please continue practicing zipping up jackets at home with younger students. Please remember to LABEL EVERYTHING!
Kind Regards,
Mrs. Stauffer

Message from the School Nurse
Winter is upon us! That means colder temperatures and maybe even some snow this year. Whenever possible, we try to get the students outside to play and get fresh air. When you go outside, it is important to be safe and stay warm. Here are some helpful tips so all our students can enjoy the outside during winter.
Dress in several thin layers. Wool is better than cotton. If the top layer of clothing gets wet, children can remove the wet layer and still be dry. Children are more at risk for frostbite when the temperatures drop.
Pack extra clothes for your student. If your student gets wet at recess, they will want to change. Clothing needs to come from home.
Send your student to school in a warm, waterproof coat.
Wear gloves or mittens, closed toe shoes or boots, socks, and a hat outside.
Be aware of clothing hazards. Scarves and hood strings can easily become tangled around a small child’s neck. Use other clothing for warmth.
Sunscreen. Snow can reflect the sun’s rays making sunburn a real risk.
Stay hydrated! Encourage kids to drink water, avoid sugary drinks and those with caffeine.

About Our Cause
Please join us in making a difference! We are raising money to benefit our music programs and any purchase you make will help make an impact. Examples of CPMC’s support to the music programs include—payment of instructor salaries, instrument and equipment purchases and repairs, purchasing props, music, truck rentals, food to feed the students at competitions, competition fees, cleaning uniforms, maintenance of “Big Red” the trailer that transports all of the band equipment, Drum Major Camp scholarships, and our CPMC Scholarship given to a graduating student planning to major in music in college. We want to give our students an opportunity to do these extracurricular activities like Marching Band, Indoor Guard, Indoor Drumline, Meistersingers and Orchestra without worry if we can. In a financial climate where school boards are cutting music programs across the country it is essential that we continue our hard work to ensure that the Red Raider Marching Band, Steel Spirit of Coatesville, Steel Thunder Drumline, Orchestra and Meistersingers can continue their award-winning traditions. In closing we would like to express that these are just a few of the things we have been able to do, and all the money raised goes to the students in some way, shape, or form. Thank you so very much from all of us involved, for your time and donation, it means so much to our group.
