J.O. Wilson PTA Virtual General Body Meeting and Election – Tuesday, May 10, at 6 p.m.

Here at J.O. Wilson, we strive for excellence, and what better way than to become involved today! The PTA is a team effort and we need YOU! Each year, general elections are held for PTA Board positions, LSAT parent representatives and W6PSPO parent representatives. The election will be held during this month’s General Body Meeting. Thanks to many generous donors in our community, we have over 125 items available (and more still coming in), with something for everyone. Here's just a small sampling of items:

• Keepsake items created with love by J.O. Cardinal students and staff

• Teacher and staff experiences

• And so much more!

We are almost at 70% of our fundraising goal of $20,000! As an incentive for all families: if we meet this goal, students get to have a schoolwide pajama/dress down (uniform-free) day!

We are still in need of on-site volunteers on Friday – for set-up (starting at 4:00 pm) and during the event (helping with registration, check-out, etc). Please reach out to the PTA (jowilsonpta@gmail.com) to get involved.

Twenty internet providers, including AT&T, Comcast and Verizon, have agreed to provide high-speed service at a steep discount to low-income customers, the White House announced. The plans would cost qualifying households no more than $30 per month. Households can qualify for the Affordable Connectivity Program if their income is at or below 200 percent of federal poverty guidelines, a member of the household participates in certain federal anti-poverty initiatives — including Medicaid, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, federal housing assistance, Pell Grant tuition assistance, free and reduced-price school meals, and others — or if the household already qualifies for an internet provider’s low-income service program.

We love working with our J.O. Wilson artists in grades 1-5 each week in our school art club! During this time, artists build, sketch, paint, and co-create!

Time: Mondays from 3:15-4:30

Location: The J.O. Wilson Art Studio in Room 222

Students must be picked up at the front of the school by 4:30. Students in aftercare will be escorted back to their respective classrooms. We can't wait to see you there!
