- lunchboxes, water bottles, backpacks, jackets, etc.
Items that are lost with no name get discarded at the end of each month if they are not claimed from the Lost and Found.
Reminder About School Hours
Please be reminded of the change in the school day schedule for the 23-24 school year:
7:15am: Student arrival begins
7:40am: Tardy bell rings/School announcements
2:35pm: Dismissal
Transportation Changes
In the event that families need to make a change in afternoon transportation, please contact the front office to do so. You may send a Class Dojo message to Angila Smith in the front office.
We will not be allowing messages to be sent to classroom teachers to make changes in transportation.
To ensure a safe and orderly dismissal, transportation changes and early checkouts are not permitted after 1:45pm.
Walker and Rider Dismissal
Parents are required to provide written permission for students to walk to or from
school. Wrightsboro staff members greet students who are assisted by the crossing
guard.
It is illegal for cars to stop on Castle Hayne Road and dismiss students for crossing.
Wrightsboro staff members assist approved student walkers in meeting the crossing guard
to cross Castle Hayne Road.
Parents who walk to school to meet their children are asked to wait across the street or outside the building on the sidewalk. Students will not be dismissed until 2:35. Students younger than 3rd grade will not be permitted to cross Castle Hayne Road and/or walk home unless a parent is present to receive the child or an older sibling is present with the child.
Van Dismissal
Parents are responsible for confirming the availability of van service at the school.
Vans use the circular drive in the front of the school at dismissal. Parents are asked to
contact the daycare when their student is absent.
Bus Arrival and Dismissal
Buses use the parking lot in front of the cafeteria facing Castle Hayne Road. Parents may use the bus parking lot after 8:00 and before 1:30. Students younger than 3rd grade will not be left at the bus stop unless a parent is present to receive the child or an older sibling is responsible for walking them home. Students will be returned to the school for parent pick-up if this occurs.
Be sure to download the Edulog Parent Portal App to see where your bus is located in real time.
Car Arrival and Dismissal
All parent drop-off and pick-up takes place at the Sheridan Drive (blue canopy) entrance of the school. The church is not to be used as an alternative route for parents to drop off students.
Parents will be issued a sign to post in their window to identify the student(s) to be picked up. Parents are to wait in their cars in the pick-up lane and staff members will assist students in and out of their cars. Parking and then waiting on the sidewalk outside of cars is not permitted. You will be asked to return to your vehicle if this occurs.
Find Bus Route and Track the Bus!
New Hanover County Schools uses the Edulog Parent Portal smartphone app that allows parents to see where their child's bus is located in real-time. Edulog Parent Portal app can be downloaded from iTunes App Store or Google Play Store. Have your student's ID (same as cafeteria number) ready before downloading the app.

Required Beginning of Year Paperwork
Beginning of year paperwork is required for returning NHCS families and must be completed online. The beginning of the year application is now available at this link. This application is important to ensure we have accurate parent/guardian contact information.
Also, having emergency contact information on the first day of school is pivotal. We greatly appreciate your efforts in completing this information prior to the first day of school.
If you have moved or will be moving out of the Wrightsboro district before the beginning of the school year, please contact Sandra Barefoot (data manager) at sandra.barefoot@nhcs.net
