What's Up At The Nest...
Principal's Message
Dear OMS Families,
What a beautiful day to end our week! Blue skies and sunshine are always good for our spirits! We had a busy week getting back into our school routines. At the beginning of the week we reviewed our lunchroom expectations with students. Please ask your child what the lunchtime expectations are to see if they remember. We also wrapped up our state IAR testing in grades 3 - 5. Today we began MAP testing which will continue in all grade levels through April 8th. Each grade level takes 2 assessments, one math and one reading. Your child's teacher will share the specific dates of testing for their class.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Erin, Julia, and the OMS staff
2022-2023 Parent PLACEMENT Input
At OMS, the student placement process for the upcoming school year is taken very seriously. Each spring, our teachers engage in a collaborative process to create healthy learning groups based on several factors. We ask that you trust our teaching staff in this process.
If you feel there is information that would not otherwise be considered in our student placement process, you will find an OPTIONAL form that you may fill out below. Please know that the placement process for all OMS students is extensive and considers many factors. PLEASE DO NOT NAME SPECIFIC TEACHERS ON THIS FORM AS WE CANNOT HONOR SPECIFIC REQUESTS. We appreciate your understanding and support.
THIS FORM MUST BE FILLED OUT EACH YEAR. We believe that students learn, grow, and mature therefore previous years requests are not considered.
Form Closes - Friday, April 15th
PTA President-Elect Needed
We are in need of a PTA President Elect for the 2022-2023 school year. We would love to work with you! This individual works alongside the PTA President for the 22-23 school year to learn the ropes so they can continue on for the 23-24 school year. I promise, Julia and I are fun to work with and enjoy collaborating with our PTA to ensure we are able to offer the best opportunities for our students!
4th Grade Parents Needed
The PTA is in need of 4th grade parents to join what will be the 5th grade committee for next year! Yes! Your child will be a 5th grader! Our hope is that we can have a few parents shadow the current committee chairs to begin to learn all of the in's and out's of celebrating our 5th graders during the 2022-2023 school year! Would you like to go to Sunrise Lake, help with the video slide shows, plan an Olympic Day? If interested, please email OlivePTA@gmail.com for more information.
**An email expressing interest in learning more will not lock you into a role!
