Notes from the Principal
Parents & Guardians,
Our last day of school! We've made it and we are out for the summer! Thank you to all the parents dropping off and picking up each day - wow. You did a great job! Thank you to everyone doing their part to keep our school safe and healthy. We could not have done it without you. Your patience and support as we navigated through a very challenging year was amazing! Happy Summer Everyone! We earned it!!
Congratulations to our 5th graders! We had a terrific Celebration/Fun Day combo. The telecast celebration went really well and the drive-through certificate pick-up was really a lot of fun. We might want to save these activities for future years! Congrats Grade 5 - we are proud of you!
Parents, our student placement process is running on target and we are planning to mail letters next Friday, June 25th.
Please see the "Library News of Note" for information regarding Orchard's Summer Library program and some reading incentives offered by local groups. Also, take a look at Mrs. Macdonald's "Collections" in Destiny Discover for lots of "Summer Fun" and coding links!
Interested in Working at Orchard School? We have positions throughout the school and the hours are just right for a working family. This includes subbing. Please contact Mark Trifilio with any questions or if interested in more information.
Our Gardens need a Boost! Please contact us if you would like to volunteer with weeding and mulching during the summer. Your help will be much appreciated.
A new playground structure is in sight, check out the breaking news from the PTO!
Have a great summer everyone, take some time to read with your child.

PTO News
Congratulations,Orchard!
The PTO would like me to announce that we have met our fundraising goal for the new playground! We are going to have the new ADA compliant structure installed over the summer so that it is ready for next school year (covid delays permitting!!). Thank you to everyone who supported our fundraising effort, whether you helped by getting the word out to friends and family or by donating money to the cause.
The PTO would also like to announce that this is only the beginning! Next year, we will be working to raise money to install a fully accessible ramped structure so that every student at Orchard can enjoy our wonderful new playground.
Thanks again to our wonderful, supportive school and community for helping us reach this goal. We can’t wait to see you on the playground!
Summer Library News
Come to Orchard School's library! SBSD employee and former Orchard School parent, Janette Hasenecz, will once again be running the Summer Library program at Orchard School. Thanks to the generosity of our PTO, the library will be open for eight weeks on Wednesday mornings from 9-12, beginning on June 23rd and ending on August 11th. Our summer theme is "Go for the Gold." Every student who comes to Summer Library will receive a special prize that just might have an Olympic game connection. Families may come in each week for a different surprise.
While at Summer Library, Orchard School students may play a game of checkers, build with LEGOs, and, of course, check out some books. Mrs. Janette will be changing activities weekly so stop by on Wednesday mornings for some books and some fun!
Memory Books are In!
Memory Books are in and will went home with students last week. Forgot to order one? No problem, we have a limited number of Memory Books to purchase for $14 available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please contact the front office to secure your copy. Make checks payable to “Orchard PTO”
Thank you!
