The Lincoln Lowdown- 1/22/24
January 22th-26th
Poverty Awareness Month!
Lincoln Families,
As we step into the month of January, I want to bring attention to the fact that it is Poverty Awareness Month. This is an important time for us to come together as a school community and reflect on the challenges faced by those experiencing poverty.
Poverty affects individuals and families in profound ways, impacting access to education, healthcare, and various opportunities. It is crucial for us, as a supportive community, to be aware of these issues and to work collectively to address them.
Throughout this month, we encourage you to engage in conversations at home about poverty, its effects, and how we can contribute to making a positive difference. Acts of kindness, understanding, and support can go a long way in creating a more inclusive and compassionate community.
If you have any ideas or initiatives you'd like to share or contribute to in observance of Poverty Awareness Month, we welcome your participation. Together, we can make a meaningful impact.
Thank you.

Staff Spotlight! Get to know your LMS Staff!
San Kyung, Teacher
Place of Birth: Chonju, South Korea
Years at Lincoln: 5
Favorite Educator: Ms. Lee. My 7th grade home room teacher. She was kind, patient, and she genuinely loved students and teaching.
Fun Fact: I volunteered to teach English in Cambodia for 6 months after I graduated college. I taught in a coastal city called Sihanoukville. The people and students were kind but I found it amusing that most Cambodians did not know how to swim... Even families who lived on the boat...When inquired, their response was to just not fall in the river/ocean.
Shawn Brown, Day Custodian
Place of Birth: Los Angeles
Years at Lincoln: 6
Favorite Educator: My History teacher, Mr. Ross. He took time to work with me to help me learn. Another teacher that impacted me was my football coach. Coach Weinburg. He encouraged me to work hard and he provided me a chance to succeed.
Fun Fact: I love to sing. In particular, old school R&B. It might not be any good but I can hold a note.
