Dear Jaguar Band Families,

Welcome the month of March starting tomorrow!! Hopefully, March has no weather surprises for us. Let’s look ahead to this week and a few other items that are rapidly approaching!

This week we have a full five-day week!! We will have all of our regularly scheduled Band, Percussion and Winter Guard rehearsals.

Winter Guard
Both groups Mon. & Thurs., 5-8pm
Varsity - Sat, time TBA

Wind Ensemble - Tues. 5:00-7:00

Percussion - Wed. 5:00-7:00

This week we have our final week of Solo Accompanist rehearsals. The schedule is exactly the same as it was prior to the winter weather and is also posted in the Band Hall. This week students will also receive their performance times for contest. UIL Solo & Ensemble is Saturday, March 6th at Hays High School.

UIL Concert & Sight-reading and our Pre-UIL Concert/Festival are at the end of March and beginning of April. Students need to start making sure you have all of the items necessary for these performances. Students will wear all black for the performances which means black shirt (not T-shirt), black slacks, black socks and black shoes for the guys. Yes, your black marching shoes will work! For the girls you will wear a black dress, however it must be of a length that goes below your knees. Girls, if needed, may also wear black slacks, a black shirt and black shoes. Students are welcome to check out a concert uniform if they prefer. (black dress for girls; tuxedo for boys) We will send a Charms email soon with a form with sizing information if you choose to check one out.

Finally, it is amazing to think that we are in the middle of getting ready to perform for UIL Solo & Ensemble, we are just a few weeks from UIL Concert and Sight-reading contest and have ALREADY begun preparations for fall marching band. We had a great new band member meeting last week and will begin having rookie band marching camps starting March 23rd. If you are a current SLT or are thinking about becoming an SLT this fall you will need to be at these camps. Please see the calendar for dates and times.

The Johnson Jaguar Band depends in large part on the fundraising efforts of the Band Boosters. Sponsorships are a very important part of fundraising. Our Sponsorship levels have been updated, and we have a lot of exciting options for businesses AND families! We ask that every family please share this brochure with anyone you know that has a business. We are eager to help promote businesses in our community that support the Jaguar Band! A new addition to our Sponsorship options is the Friends and Family Level. This level offers various options for businesses as well as an option for band families: For $200, you can have your child’s name and graduation year on our band trailer indefinitely with the option to simultaneously add sibling name for an additional $100.

This section is for all new (Rookie!) parents! Here we will focus on various points of information that we believe would be helpful to families in their first year with the Jaguar Band.

8th Grade Spring Camps

8th grade and high school percussion camp continues.

8th grade camps for woodwinds and brass will be starting soon!

8th grade camps for the Jaguar Guard (JAGuard) will start in March!

*These camps are not mandatory but they will definitely give your student a strong start to the 2021 marching season! It's a great opportunity to meet 9-11th grade students and have fun!

Communications

The band directors and boosters primarily rely on Charms to communicate information. Make sure your information is up to date in Charms. Reminder that the Jaguar Band school code is: JohnsonJaguarBand
