Wow! It’s hard to believe it is October already. We have finished our fall testing. You will receive those results at Parent/Teacher Conferences. Our teachers use this information to guide their instruction and ensure your child is getting exactly what he/she needs to be successful this school year.
Parent/Teacher Conferences will be on October 17 & October 19 from 4-8pm. Your child’s teacher has sent out a SignUp Genius for you to sign up for a time. Please reach out to your child’s teacher if you have not secured a time for a conference.
With October comes cooler weather. Please make sure your child has what they need to be comfortable outside during recess. This time of year, the temperature changes throughout the day but sometimes a light jacket or sweatshirt is still necessary during recess.
Yours in education,
Christina Johnson
Principal
End of Day Routine Changes **NEW POLICY**
Thank you for helping us keep our students safe.
Student Drop-Off/Pick-Up procedure
When dropping off or picking up students we ask that you do not stand in the parking lot and wave the children to you or send them walking through the parking lot as it endangers our students with all of the moving traffic going on at that time.
We appreciate everyone taking the safety of our students seriously. Thank you.

Happy shopping.
Steeby Office Contacts

IMPORTANT REMINDER/REQUEST
We want to be sure that parents are getting the messages from the District in case of inclement weather and/or transportation changes for the day.

A Note from Music
Happy Fall from the Steeby Music room! My name is Jennifer Bailey and I am the music teacher here at Steeby and also at Baker Elementary. We have had a good start to the year in music. We have been reviewing music notes and rests and other music concepts. We will continue to build on what we have learned. We have already played instruments and have moved our bodies to music! All classes helped create the Music Social Contract and we are working on following it. I look forward to making more music with your students this year!

Media Moments
Happy October! Students have been creating writing and art on Abcya Paint in media class. Students decided on their one word for the year and also wrote a goal for the year. This goes along with students being goal setters and self-directed. Then we printed them out. Mrs. Spicer had the students add a portrait of themselves in art. Look for their creations in the hallway during parent-teacher conferences. Also, please come by the Scholastic Book Fair in the library at parent-teacher conferences. We will have many great books to choose from.
Happy Writing and Reading!

This month, we’re challenging students to envision future goals and take intentional steps toward who they want to be. We are partnering with you to grow and develop your child’s ability to self-direct. We can model self-direction by celebrating the positive in each day, seeking the good in others, and emphasizing our responsibility to make positive choices.
On October 26 we will have an assembly to honor those students who have demonstrated self-direction throughout the entire month of October.
