WELCOME TO THE LIBRARY
The Harlan Elementary Library/Media Center is the place to be for reading, research and inquiry, technology, digital citizenship, creativity and exploration! This Library Connection newsletter will provide you with information about learning in the library, recommended resources available to students in school and at home, special events, book recommendations, and more! Please return all library books when you are finished reading them. There is no need to wait for your library day.
What are your students working on in January?
- Students will do a Social Emotional check in with me as we come back from break. We will focus on how students are feeling after spending time at home and make sure to get new books for the new year.
- Adventures in coding - students will continue to work on various courses on Code.org to understand basic coding concepts (sequencing, debugging, loops etc...)
- K-1 students will have hands on coding experience with Code-a-pillars and coding mice, once we complete our Code.org course.
- 2nd grade students will take a deeper dive into coding and begin to make comparisons with how understanding code can help them in other areas at school. Students will use Ozobots to continue their understanding of computer science.

- Students will continue to check out books and use online databases and resources.
- Battle of the Books information is located on the school website and in Schoology.
