Message from Mrs. Harp
Panther families,
I hope you and your kiddos are gearing up for JOG A THON! I'm bringing my running shoes and will do a mile with each grade again! I'm looking forward to it! (though not so much to the day after- ouchie!). We'd love to hear what your kiddo(s) are doing to raise money this year? That is the question of the week below!
One of the goals of Penngrove this year is to honor and celebrate our cultural diversity more. We'd love to see more representation of our students and what makes each of us unique and special. We all love our Fiesta Familiar celebration, and want to expand that even more! Please email friendsofpenngrovepta@gmail.com if you'd like to share your cultural celebration ideas with us.
A big thank you to our incredible PTA for providing some more activities for students at recess and lunch. We now have a basketball hoop and a volleyball net which students are enjoying!
What are you leaning into this week?
Mrs. Harp
Question of the week from Principal Harp
Each week, I will be sending out a question with which you will be given the opportunity to engage in a new conversation with your child. We all know how hard it is to draw out responses other than, "nothing" or "fine" when we ask "What did you do today?" or "How was school?" Be sure to use open ended follow-up questions and statements such as "Tell me more about that!" or "What did you think of that?" Please ask your student(s) the question below, share their response with us and make our day! You can submit more than one response!
(No need to put names or identifying words.)
This week's question:
What is one way you'd like to raise money for jog a thon this year!?
Last week's answers:
📘 Library Update 📘
Thanks to our generous PTA, we're so excited to introduce Penngrove Reading Kits this year. This is a fun way to bring new books home to read as a family, support a struggling reader, encourage love of reading, or just for FUN! If you're curious which kit would be best for your reader, don't hesitate to reach out to their classroom teacher.
Detailed descriptions of kits and a form to request are in the link. Otherwise, feel free to browse the kits in the office or reach out to Mrs. M with any questions at amiljkovic@petk12.org.
Kits will be available starting this week. As this is a new program, I am open to any feedback or suggestions to make this work for our wonderful Panthers.
🪴Garden 🪴
It is so great to be back up in the garden with all your amazing students.
We are studying the lifecycle of the Gulf Fritillary butterfly, collecting seeds, starting seeds, planting and refilling our aeroponic grow towers. Please sign up to volunteer here ( https://forms.gle/D44Kc7kyB2hmVWZV6 ) I do not have any volunteers for 1st grade Codoni, 1st grade Sartori, TK Salazar or K Alcocer. It is a great opportunity to be involved with your child's class!
I am in need of any pavers you have sitting around your houses! Habitat site B in front of room 10 is going to have a path through it for students and I need your pavers to make it happen. Any and all kinds welcome. You can drop them behind the garden classroom anytime or email me to coordinate. aortiz@petk12.org
With gratitude,
Ms. Ortiz
