Willow Parent Bulletin #25

This week brought us warm weather, report cards, and a whole lotta confusion about school being in session on Fridays.

Today you will be able to access your child's report card through the parent portal. You will receive an email regarding this. It will let you know on what skills the teachers focused this trimester. When you go to the Parent Portal you will need to enter your username and password to login. On the left side where it says documents, select the one that corresponds with your child's grade level. Once you click on the correct one, a PDF will open in a new window. You can either print or save.

Willow students attend school Monday through Friday, UNLESS it is otherwise indicated on the calendar. You can always find a calendar at the bottom of the Parent Bulletin. I know this gets a little confusing since James Hart is all remote on Fridays. When you see School Improvement Day (SIP), those are early release days that are full remote. We will e-blast reminders, too. We appreciate all the calls today.

A quick reminder, too that school starts at 8:00 AM. If your child is remote, he/she should be logged on and if he/she is coming into the building, he/she needs to be here no later than 8:00AM. Students arriving after that time will need to be escorted by their grown up to the office for a tardy slip and health check.

Nurse Gail Straney put down her thermometer and took a break from health checks to bring you the birthdays and Pledge of Allegiance.

Amadi’s Snowman, written by Katia Novet Saint-Lot, is an endearing story about a young Nigerian boy who discovers that his curiosity about a man made of snow leads to a love of reading. This wonderful story is available in an eBook format through the Homewood Public Library.

Our Social Worker, Ms. Aschinger, and Counselor, Mrs. Lang, will beginning their lessons on child safety soon. The first lesson will be recorded and you can view it the week of March 22nd. This will come in lieu of your child's normal SEL lesson. The second lesson will also be recorded and take place the week of April 12th. It, too, will replace that week's SEL.

The third lesson will be an "in-person" lesson the week of May 3rd. During this lesson the students will hear use of proper anatomical language. All lessons will have home links for parents to follow up with at home. If you feel this state mandated part of the curriculum is not something in which you want your child to participate, please complete the opt out letter that is included and return it to the Willow School Office.
