CAPSTONE PROJECTS
Sophomores in Capstone / Advisory
Here are some things you'll do for Capstone in 10th Grade:
- Project ideas/Plans. The earlier students start their projects, the better! We encourage sophomores to come to capstone evening to see some of the projects and to start making a plan!
- Portfolios. Students need to keep updating and improving their portfolios and to brainstorm ways to spend their summer that will help them build their academic "resume" as they prepare for college/careers (e.g. summer camps, jobs, volunteer opportunities, etc).
- SEE SEMINAR IN CANVAS FOR LOTS OF SUMMER IDEAS!
Juniors in Capstone / Advisory
Here is what you might expect to do in Capstone Mentoring for 11th Grade:
- Project Ideas/Plans. Juniors should be narrowing down ideas for their projects and begin making a plan. Juniors should be putting a plan in place to utilize the summer to work on and/or plan their project. The goal is for all rising seniors to have their project completed prior to 2nd semester.
- Portfolios. Juniors need to continue to work on and update electronic portfolios. Keeping track of academic achievements, work experience, special interests, etc., will help students have information readily available as they complete college, job, and scholarship applications.

Seniors in Capstone / Advisory
Seniors for Class of 2022 Should Expect:
- Projects. Seniors should have either completed their projects or will be completing them over the next two weeks. Moving forward, we hope ALL seniors will have projects completed prior to 2nd Semester.
- Presentation. Presentations need to include the student's personal statement. In addition to presenting and showcasing their project, and what they learned through the process (this is the Create portion of the project, e.g. pictures, videos, artifacts, etc., either via display or presentation), the presentation needs to show how their capstone project Contributes to their chosen field of study or to the community, and how their project Connects to their future goals and ambitions.
- Preliminary presentation. After your last Capstone/Mentoring Day there is approximately school 2 weeks until Senior Capstone Evening. Present your Capstone presentation to your Advisory teacher prior to Senior Capstone Evening to get tips and corrections as needed. This can be completedthe week of April 11th.
If seniors have not signed up for a presentation through our Google Form, they should use this link: https://forms.gle/PAHJ5sgVJ4uhYuTG7 (Davis) or https://forms.gle/N6igbi4DtN18eM8E6 (North) to indicate whether they plan on preparing a table display or 5-7 minute presentation.
*Portfolios are not required for Seniors this year, but moving forward they will be required. If Seniors have completed portfolios, show off what you've done to your Advisory teacher and use it for college applications, scholarship applications, job applications, and more!
