Beanstack is the reading incentive available to MNPS students. At Hillsboro, you have opportunity to earn Burro Incentive Points through various challenges throughout the year.

The Summer Reading Challenge ended, and I will be tabulating points to add to student accounts in September.

I will be treating the classroom with the highest average minutes logged at the end of each month. Mr. Trump's CCR class won 1st place or the month of August & September! Let's spice things up and get another class winning donuts!

To access Beanstack, go to Classlink and search the Beanstack app to join. Log your minutes for reading and join challenges to earn more awards.

Testing season is upon us! Be prepared with your laptop at school daily. Loaners are not always guaranteed during testing season. We have a limited number of laptops to loan. If you have more than TWO LAPTOPS checked out, we are not allowed to check out a third.

Please bring laptops back to school that have any issues so we can get it fixed and off your account.

It happens to all of us! Make sure that you are allowing your laptop to update during times that you are not needing it.

• Plug in at home
• Login on laptop
• Make sure that you are on your WIFI at home
• Check back in the morning for needed updates and let it do its thing!
• MNPS sends updates around midnight, so make sure that you aren't leaving it in your backpack!

Laptop sluggish or Internet not working? You may need updates. You can avoid this by keeping your laptop on, on the Internet, and plugged in overnight. MNPS runs updates at night so laptops are not disrupted during school. You can push laptop through by following the steps below.

1. Bottom left corner type "Check Updates"
2. Then Select "Check Updates"
3. Allow updates to be checked and then check back for "Update & Restart"
4. You can also Select "Check for Updates Online" to pull more Microsoft Updates.

While we are in the new lunch schedule, the library is unable to facilitate students during lunch due to classes assigned to the library during the 5th block. Lunch is only on 1st floor area.

As a reminder, we only accept Hall Pass that have been sent electronically. If you do not have an electronic hall pass sent, you will not be permitted in the library. All paper passes from Substitute teachers will be sent back.

• "We have a sub that doesn't know how to send hall passes": Create a hall pass on your laptop and your academy office can approve the pass as long as your attendance has been confirmed.
• "My Teacher just sent me real quick": Doesn't matter, Administration wants all students to have a hall pass to leave the room. Create a hall pass on your laptop and your teacher can approve it quickly.

A lost laptop will cost the student $200. Please make sure that students do not leave laptops behind. Students who need to store a laptop during lunch should get a locker to store it in. LOCKER ASSIGNMENTS are free, and you can get one assigned to you in the Freshman Academy.

FOUND LAPTOP

If you find a laptop, bring to the Library ASAP. Whoever is the last person to sign in on it, does not mean that is who the laptop belongs to. Please do not guess, just bring to the THE LIBRARY ASAP.

LOST LAPTOP

LOANER LAPTOPS

We do not loan laptops out, we will check you out a new laptop. When you are finished with the laptop you will need to check it back in at the library, so it is removed from your account. Lost laptops will cost $200 if not returned.

FEES for DAMAGED & LOST ITEMS: This is set by MNPS and not by Hillsboro. It is the student's responsibility to manage MNPS issued devices.

MackinVIA is the platform MNPS uses for eBooks and audiobooks. Students can now access MackinVIA through ClassLink! Once students sign into ClassLink, they can select the MackinVIA app, and it will take them directly to the collection.
