Open House
Yulee Primary
Yulee Primary had a magnificent turn out for their sweet Open House event!
Paper Airplanes
During Mr. Smith's science lab class at Emma Love Hardee, students had the opportunity to make paper airplanes with two different designs to see the scientific method in action. First they observed the differences in the shapes of the two paper airplanes. Then came up with a question to try and answer, "Which paper airplane shape will fly farther." A hypothesis was formed by the class and then a discussion about what type of investigation or experiment could help answer the question. Students then folded the two different styles of airplanes, "The Arrow and The Bullet. A data sheet was used to record their data after they counted how many steps it took to reach the airplane after they threw it.
Once everyone finished, the groups discussed the data together and shared which shape airplane they thought flew the farthest. The Arrow shape seemed to be the winner!
Officers Sworn In
The newest School Safety Officers of Nassau County School District were sworn in this week!
Scientific Method with Bubbles
Mrs. Haynes' 6th-grade science classes at Fernandina Beach Middle School reviewed the scientific method and how to identify variables in an experiment with the Bubbles Lab. The students were investigating the question, "Which brand of dish soap will make the biggest bubble?" They used three different dish soaps to use to blow bubbles with. They measured the diameter of the bubbles and repeated three trials for each soap. They calculated the average diameter of each soap bubble. They analyzed the results and wrote their conclusion statements.

Literary Elements
4th-grade students in Mrs. Loucks’s class at Emma Love Hardee spent time collaborating and piecing together the literary elements that make a summary. They use a graphic organizer to develop their thoughts and then formulate them into a written summary.
