Be Safe, Be Kind, Be Responsible!
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE - Farewell to Ms. Nancy!
Last Friday, we said goodbye to our beloved Noon Supervisor Ms. Nancy Casillas, who has been of great service here in the Lorin Eden community. Made in Hayward, Ms. Nancy has been a wonderful positive influence on our students in her role as noon supervisor. She will be dearly missed, and we wish her well on her next adventures as she continues in a support teacher role at Burbank Elementary. Congratulations Ms. Nancy!
1st - 3rd grade Families: Staggered Reading Schedule Starts October 10 - Extended Supervision
Thanks to our partnership with YEP, we will be able to offer supervision based on need for both the early and late sessions. A form to sign up for supervision beyond the early/late schedule will be coming home this week. There will not be a "drop in" option for this program.
School Climate and Home-School Communications
Teachers, Paraeducators, Noon Supervisors and Administrators are actively involved during the school day to support our students with conflict resolution and peer communication. Please keep in mind that our young students are still learning, and that their reporting of events may not be consistent with the facts of the matter.
Your child's teacher is your first point of contact. If you hear a story coming home to you about an interaction between students, and something sounds like it is not quite right, it is likely that there is more to the story. We encourage students to speak up when they need help with a peer interaction. When responding to your child's report of events that are concerning, you should ask your student when he/she talked with a teacher or staff member about the situation - what guidance was provided, and if they feel the situation is resolved. Unless you have an established relationship, we recommend that you do not contact another student's family directly regarding any issues that take place at school. This can generate more problems and unintentionally extend the conflict - please allow the school team of teachers, counselors, and administrators to work with you to support the resolution process for students.
