If your child is a pick up, you will be given a sign to display on your car dashboard. Pick ups will be dismissed to the cafeteria and called outside in the order cars line up. Please remain in your car.
If your child needs to be dismissed early, please send a note (with his/her first and last name) to his/her teacher stating the time and reason for dismissal. Early dismissals will be handled through the main office.

News from the Purple Palette & Paintbrush:
Thank you!!
News from Phys Ed!!
In Physical Education, we will finally be starting our ¨Create A Game¨ unit that I explained in my last Newsletter. I know students are very excited about making up games and teaching them to the class. I have already had some students come up to me and explain a game they thought of over vacation!
After that unit, we will be learning Floor Hockey! I have heard from many students how excited they are for this unit as well since they already play deck hockey or ice hockey. All classes will be learning lead-up games to Floor Hockey, which introduce the basic skills with a focus on one or two skills at a time; proper grip, stick handling, passing, scoring and positioning during the lead-up games so the players learn proper game play techniques and strategies. This allows the students to build a basic foundation for each skill, which they will use in game play and will ultimately create excitement about Floor Hockey! Since school has started, students have learned different ways to strike a ball with their feet and their hands, so in this unit they will learn how to strike a ball with different equipment, such as hockey sticks, pool noodles, and pillow polo sticks. We will also be using different objects as the ¨puck¨, such as yarn balls and dodgeballs.
With the cold weather, it is more important than ever to get your body moving! I encourage you to be active with your children; go for a walk, build a snowman, or go sledding!
Kindergarten News
“Preparing for the Weather & Library News”
“Learning how to prepare for the weather” is one of our science standards and we’re asking our fabulous families for some help! Because outdoor recess is a healthy choice and a lot more fun in cold weather when everyone is “prepared,” we’re sending along a reminder that children need hats, mittens and warm jackets. When snow arrives, boots and snow pants are also needed allowing the children to play in the snow, weather permitting. If your children wear boots to school, please remember to have them bring shoes/sneakers to wear in class.
In other news, we’re looking forward to our monthly visits to the Forbush Library! We recognize how fortunate we are to have a town library with a superb children’s room. The children will receive their own library cards, listen to stories, check out books and spend time playing with the many offerings at the library.
Thank you, families, for your support! Our Kindergarten Team appreciates your many kindnesses. Happy New Year to all of you!
Fourth Grade News!!
The fourth grade teachers were eager to see our students after our return from winter break, and we’re looking forward to the rest of our school year together.
We had a visit this week from a guest scientist, Angela Miller, from Ohio State, who did an amazing and interesting chemistry demonstration! She presented several science experiments that involved different forms of matter and chemical reactions.
Fourth grade students will soon begin a trek across the country as we study the geography and history of the five regions of the United States.
In our math studies, we are wrapping up our multi-digit multiplication and early division unit where students learned to multiply by 10, 100, and 1,000, multiply 2-digit numbers, represent multiplication with arrays and ratio tables, divide with and without remainders, and solve
multiplication and division story problems.
Thank you for the generous donations to the Pajama Drive. We collected close to 100 pairs of pajamas for children in need! Scholastic will donate a book with each pair of pajamas.
