Fremont Spring 2023 Highlights
Extracurricular Exploits
The Fremont Middle School debate team brought home a second-place finish at the Stevenson High School Inter-Middle School Debate Tournament. Congratulations also to Meghna M., Dylan P., and Zhaochen L. on placing individually. Meanwhile, the Science Olympiad squad took part in the Lake County Regional tournament at College of Lake County and had numerous individual place-finishers, while also capturing the team Spirit Award.
Athletic Accolades
The middle school wrestling team had two individuals, Luca and Mik, advance to the IESA state meet with Luca bringing home a fifth-place finish. Additionally, one of our 7th-grade girls volleyball teams captured a Patriot Conference title under the direction of Coach Hengesh. Congratulations to all!
Giving Back to Those in Need
Fremont Elementary School students participated in a supply drive for those in need, gathering household items for donation to the Fremont Township Pantry. The donations from students and their families filled two truckloads full of supplies that can't be purchased with Food Stamps in order to assist our community.
Celebrating the Arts
There are multiple opportunities upcoming to support our musical arts programs, including the middle school musical "Rock Bottom" which will take place Friday, April 14 at the middle school gymnasium. Safety & Security Update
Over spring break, the District completed the installation of Airphones (a camera, buzzer, and intercom system) at the main entrance of each school building. Airphones will allow our front office staff to speak to and see guests before they gain access to our buildings. As part of our standard protocol, visitors will be asked their name as well as the purpose of their visit prior to being granted access to a school building. This is applicable to parents, as well other visitors, to ensure consistency in practice. The system will provide an additional security measure that will inform staff and help maintain a quick security response time. Thank you for your patience and understanding as part of this process. As safety and security are a top priority for the District, we are excited to add this additional layer of security for students and staff.
If You See Something, Say Something
We would like to remind everyone that “If You See Something, Say Something” and remember, we all are empowered to “Do Something.” Providing a safe and secure learning environment for staff and students is a top priority. If you hear of or notice something that is abnormal or potentially concerning regarding our school environment, please reach out to a school employee.

ART AWARENESS VOLUNTEERS
It's not too late to be an Art Awareness volunteer! If you enjoy putting together projects for kids, we could use your help in the K-5 classrooms. As an art awareness volunteer, you simply put a project together that can be tied to an artist, schedule a time with the teacher to go in and present the lesson to the kids. The students absolutely love it and it only requires about 2 hours a month of your time. We have plenty of resources and supplies available for you to use. The classroom teacher is always there to assure you have a positive experience. You don't need to have a background in teaching or art. Contact Lauren Rollinger at lauren.rollinger@gmail.com
