Superintendent's Message
It gives me great pleasure to welcome everyone to the 2023-2024 school year in King George County. We have had an amazing school opening throughout the division where optimism and energy were abound. We intend to ride this wave of positivity through what will be a productive and rewarding school year for all. This success will hinge on the roles that we all play in our children's success.
Teachers, challenge your students to think critically, encouraging your students to pursue their passions, and most importantly, inspire your students to believe in themselves.
Students, never give up trying. If you make mistakes, it’s okay because we all do. Making mistakes means you're trying and learning in the process.
Parents, because the relationships between families and the school are so vital to the success of our students, I encourage us all to become involved in every way possible.
King George Community, stand together and in support of our children! The King George of tomorrow resides in our schools today. Let's do our best to ensure a prosperous community in our futures by investing in our children today.
King George County Schools is ready for an amazing school year and we look forward to all the love and support our community has to offer.

Student Back to School Forms
Returning Student Forms for the 2023-2024 school year are available online!
It is important that student forms are updated and submitted as soon as possible. Students who do not have updated forms (which include the KGCS Technology Agreement) on file may be subject to account deactivation until we receive this updated information. Student account deactivation means students are unable to login to Google and the Chromebook. There is a help guide available here.
Please contact your student's school if you need assistance completing these forms.

PES News for Families and the Community
PES is off to a great start for the 2023-2024 school year! Students were excited to get out and play on our new playground during recess. Teachers and staff kicked off the year with a PBIS assembly to remind students to SOAR (practice Self-control, take Ownership for their actions, Accept and be kind to others, and Respect adults and each other). Students were excited to learn about the raffle prizes for this year - two tablets, a bike, art kits, and a hoverboard. In addition to practicing making good choices and modeling appropriate behavior, students will be encouraged to stay fit and healthy during our PTA Booster Fun Run. Families and community members can make donations for each lap a student completes during the culminating Fun Run event. We're looking forward to getting active at PES in September!

KGMS News for Families and the Community
KGMS is off to a great start! To help keep things running smoothly, here are a few helpful reminders:
* If you drop your student(s) off in the morning, please follow the traffic pattern through the parking lot and only drop your student(s) off once you have reached the sidewalk and all the vehicles in front of you have stopped to unload. Following this process helps keep traffic moving as efficiently as possible and it keeps all of our students safe as well.
* If you need to pick your student(s) up early, please know that our buses begin lining up for dismissal at approximately 1:50 each afternoon, so you may not be able to access the parking lot nearest the main office after that time. If you do need to pick your student(s) up early, please plan to either pick them up prior to that time or plan to park in the parking lot nearest Route 3 and Sheetz and walk to the main office to get your student(s). Thanks for your help and understanding!
* Be sure to check our website for information pertaining to KGMS. We also send information out via School Messenger and we have a weekly newsletter, FoxBytes, that has a lot of valuable information, so be sure to sign up for these communications if you haven't already done so.
* Season Passes now available for home KGMS sporting events! Please visit the KGMS Athletics website on the KGMS homepage for more information.
* KGMS Fall Picture is Monday, September 11 - mark your calendars!

Updates on PASS at KGHS.
KGHS PASS Weekly Schedule will begin Monday, September 11th.
What is an Advisory class? An advisory class is a specific period built into a school's master schedule that is not a content-specific class. Instead, students and teachers often use advisory to engage in academic mentoring, activities that build community, and school-wide culture building. Its purpose is to support students in non academic subjects by establishing meaningful connections with a small group of peers and their teacher.
Advisory at KGHS is a new initiative – each group has approximately 21 students in grades 9-12. These students will remain together with their advisory teacher for their entire high school career. Many activities will take place throughout the year in advisory.
* Mondays – Advisory Meeting
*Tuesdays - Club Day / Remediation / Intervention
*Wednesdays - Club Day / Remediation / Intervention
*Thursdays - Club Day / Remediation / Intervention
*Fridays - 4 block Rotation – students will attend each of their 4 blocks / classes for an additional 25 minutes each month
*Tuesday – Thursday - Academic support, club meetings, team meetings, hobbies, remediation, rehearsals, and needs/wants of students will be available.
