Leadership Message
Dear St. Luke Families,
This week, students learned about the importance of Truth and Reconciliation leading up to Truth and Reconciliation Day. September 30th is an important day of recognition created in response to the 2015 Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action. September 30th may look different for many in our community – perhaps it will be a quiet day of reflection, the participation in a community event or a time to educate ourselves further about the history of residential schools and colonial impacts.
Today we encouraged all staff and students to visibly support this learning journey in our school by wearing orange on Orange Shirt Day. We wore orange today to commemorate the survivors and lost children of residential schools and bring further awareness to the history and legacies of the residential school system.
Oct 2nd is a designated day off for all staff and students in recognition of the importance of this day and the impact of residential schools on our families and communities.
However you choose to remember, I encourage everyone to be active this weekend in their learning as we all continue on the path towards truth and reconciliation.
Have a wonderful long weekend!
Let's make this year GLOW!
