Your Weekly Update from Wilson Middle School
Principal's Message
Hello Wilson families,
Welcome back! We are so excited for the new school year. The students have been remarkable in getting back into the swing of things and have been thoughtful and kind to each other.
We were able to meet with each grade level to welcome them back as a grade level. We reminded them of some of our essential expectations as well as showed them an opening day video with ALL of our staff members sharing messages of encouragement.
The rain on the first day kept us from welcoming our students outside with our signs, but we were able to do it on day 2. Please see some of the pictures below. I am truly blessed to work with such dedicated and caring educators. They truly love what they do and it shows. I hope your children feel it.
Below are some important things to review and read.
Late buses start on Tuesday, September 12:
A listing of extra-curricular activities and late bus stops will go out later next week.
Student Drop Off:
Please ask your child to get out of your car as soon as you pull up to the sidewalk (even towards the back of the line). This will help keep the traffic flow in the mornings.
Volunteers Needed for Laps and Composting:
We want to get started with getting the students outside for laps during lunch next week. Therefore, we need your help! Parents volunteers are needed for both laps and composting. We are composting everyday in the cafeteria. Both links are below to sign up if interested. You must have a completed CORI on file to volunteer. You can reach out to our administrative assistants in the office, Trish Williams or Jeanne Holihan if you need help with a CORI.
Attendance Reminder for Parents and Caregivers;
This is a reminder that all student tardies/absences must be called in to the attendance line (508-647-6671).
Belwo is our absence documentation procedure in PowerSchool.
Tardies related to health appointments will be excused when a provider note is submitted listing the date of the visit.
Absences due to illness or medical care will be excused when you submit a written note from a health provider. In the attendance system in PowerSchool parents will see absences listed as “Absent-Guardian Call” (AGC) until a note from a provider is submitted. Absence dates listed on the provider note will be changed to “Absent-Excused” (AE) once we have a note.
Absences due to travel cannot be excused and will be listed as “Absent-Guardian Call” (AGC).
Absences which were not called in by a parent/guardian are listed as “Absent” (A). Caregivers receive an automated call or call from school personnel when they do not call the attendance line. Once contact is made, the absence is recorded as Absence-Guardian Call (AGC).
The exception to this is if your child tests positive for Covid. Currently, you do not need to submit a provider note. However, in your call to the absence line you should indicate that your child has Covid and the expected date of return to school. Please note: If your child tests positive for Covid-19, they must stay home for 5 days. The day they started symptoms is Day 0, the next day is Day 1, then Day 2, etc. They may return to school on Day 6 and must wear a mask for an additional 5 days. Absences related to Covid will be recorded in PowerSchool as “Absent Excused-Protocol” (AEP).
Wishing you all a wonderful Labor Day weekend and remember that we do not have school on Monday. Enjoy the day off and we look forward to seeing the students on Tuesday, September 5.
Respectfully,
Teresa Carney

Paper - On-Demand Tutoring
Natick Public Schools is excited to announce our partnership with Paper for on-demand tutoring for NHS students. Paper is a secure, online tutoring service that provides students with unlimited, 24/7 academic support. Whether they’re stuck on homework, studying for a test, or need someone to read and make suggestions to their essays, there will always be experts available online to assist students in over 200 subjects and more than 4 languages.
Paper tutors have been specially trained to conduct expert, academic support in a secure, chat-based platform. With a commitment to helping students learn, they’ll never give students answers, but rather interact with them in an encouraging tone to lead them forward.
This is a free service that we’re providing, so students are encouraged to use it as much as they need, whenever they need. Our teachers also have accounts and will be able to review all student activity to see what they’re working on and provide more targeted instruction as needed.
If you’d like to learn more about Paper you can sign up for a Paper hosted Parent Info Session, available in both English and Spanish.
To see Paper and the help it offers firsthand, we encourage you to login with your students. To get started, simply visit PAPER’s student login page, type your school’s name, and log in via Google using your school credentials
We’re thrilled to offer our students the unlimited, 24/7 support that Paper provides and we can’t wait to see what we’re able to accomplish together.
