This interactive Bible time is a great way for your family to gather around God's Word and read, listen, watch, sing, and do activities together that help you learn more about God's great love for you in Jesus.

How do you become wise?

After King David died, his son Solomon became king. When Solomon went to offer sacrifices, God Himself appeared to Solomon in a dream. God offered Solomon a chance to ask for anything, most likely as a way to test Solomon. Before answering, Solomon first acknowledged that God had shown favor both to his father and to him. Then, instead of asking for wealth or fame or long life, Solomon asked for wisdom, for a mind that understood God’s will for His people so that he could rule His people well. God was very pleased with Solomon’s request. He gave Solomon great wisdom, saying “so that none like you has been before you and none like

you shall arise after you” (1 Kings 3:12). God also promised to give Solomon what he did not ask for: wealth and honor. Solomon wrote many of the wise sayings found in the Book of Proverbs.

Heavenly Father, thank You for all that You have given to us, especially the gift of Jesus, our Savior. Help us to praise and worship You with our whole hearts. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

Solomon knew that, as king, he had a lot of responsibility. Instead of asking for riches and power, he asked God for the ability to know right from wrong so that he could serve Israel by being a wise leader.

God was pleased that Solomon did not have a selfish request. God blessed Solomon with wisdom and also riches and honor. God wants us to use our gifts to serve others instead of seeking selfish gains.

We grow in wisdom when we read and study God’s Word, the Bible; when we worship together in church; and when we have personal or family prayer and devotion time.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge. Proverbs 1:7

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.

Dear Jesus, thank You for being our divine faithful friend. As we go about our week, please help us be a good friend to others. In Your name we pray, Jesus. Amen.
