Principal's Message
Dear St. Maria Goretti Catholic School Families,
We will have our Spring Creek Dine Out Night Tuesday, October 26 from 5 PM -9 PM. You will be able to pick up your BBQ sauce orders that evening.
On Monday, November 1st we will be attending All Saints Day Mass. Please be sure your students are on time that day. We will NOT be attending Mass on Wednesday, November 3rd as an entire school community.
Students in grades PreK-4 will be processing in at the beginning of Mass and we want to make sure that everyone is there to participate.
Students who are dressing up will need to come to school in their saint costumes with their Mass uniform underneath. Students in PreK-4th grade will take their costumes off after Mass. Please see the information given by the religion teachers regarding the dress code.
The 4th and 5th-grade students have been working on making Bottle Saints and Saint Candles. These will be on display in the cafetorium for the students to view.
The 7/8 graders will be hosting a living saint museum during the day for students. After school on Monday, November 1st, they will be in the SMG Center from 3:30 PM - 4:30 PM to allow parents and parishioners to come and learn more about their saints.
The Advent and Christmas seasons are quickly approaching. I am looking for a large nativity set to display for our students. If you have a gently used one you would like to donate or know someone who would be willing to help us purchase a new one please let me know.
Please continue to keep our students, teachers, staff, and priests in your prayers.
St. Maria Goretti, Pray for Us!
Blessings,
Amy Utendorf, M.Ed.

SMG Faculty & Staff Recognized for Service in the Diocese of Fort Worth!
Congratulations to members of our faculty and staff who were recognized last Friday at the Diocesan In-service for their years of service in the Diocese of Fort Worth! Mrs. Daly (5 yrs.), Mrs. Utendorf (20 yrs.), Mrs. Bara (15 yrs), and Mrs. Hill (5 yrs). Thank you for your dedication to Catholic education!
Boss's Day
SMGCS celebrated National Boss's Day by presenting Mrs. Utendorf and Mrs. Vasquez with cards, flowers, lunch and a sweet treat. The faculty and staff appreciate their dedication and ongoing support.
The history of Boss's Day 2022 dates back to 1958 when the concept of National Boss Day was founded by Patricia Bays Haroski, then an employee at State Farm Insurance Company in Deerfield, Illinois. That year, Patricia Bays Haroski registered the holiday with the United States Chamber of Commerce. She designated October 16 as the special day because it was her father's birthday, who also happened to be her boss. Four years later in 1962, Illinois Governor Otto Kerner backed Haroski's registration and officially proclaimed the day.
Household Mass
During Wednesday's Household Mass, each household was represented by a banner as they processed into church.
The Households of St. Maria Goretti Catholic School consist of Spirit filled-Christ-led groups of students who work together helping each other grow in mind, body, and spirit. Members of St. Maria Goretti Catholic School through their participation in Households will create a culture in the school that is transforming, community building, and life giving.
Jersey Day
Students donated $2 to earn the pleasure of wearing their favorite team's jersey Thursday. SMG Student Council sponsored this fundraiser. All proceeds help fund the upcoming Junior High Glow Party dance. Thanks for supporting StuCo!
Congratulations to 8th Grade Volleyball Campions!
School Wide Rosary
October celebrates the Month of the Holy Rosary. On Friday the school came together to pray the rosary. Students were surprised with a beautiful balloon rosary that was assembled and put on display in the cafetorium.
