Principal's Update
Our mid-year data meetings began last week, and continue this week and next week. While it's never ideal to have teachers out of classrooms, it's also really important to give them extended time and space to be able to look at evidence of student learning and make solid plans moving forward. It's hard to do that work well in smaller chunks of time.
Having substitutes, or guest teachers, allows our students to practice something critical to character development, the idea that you represent something other than yourself. How you act isn't only a reflection of you--it's also a reflection of your class and your school (or your family). We're proud of our school, and we should each act accordingly. You can help us out in the next couple weeks by reminding your child that it's important to be kind and helpful to people who are new, whether they are kids or grown-ups.
We've seen a lot of growth in 1st semester, and can't wait to see where 2nd semester takes all of our students!
EHSA Update
Our Fundraising Efforts are really starting to pay off! This month, our 5th graders are planning a BIG field trip (we can't wait to share about it!) and 3rd grade is having theater classes prior to seeing The Lightening Thief at First Stage Theater in Milwaukee. (5th grade is going to the play in March, too!)
These experiences wouldn't be possible without your support. Thank you for what you've done so far. Here is what's coming up!
- February- Cherrydale Fundraiser (Cookie Dough!)--Have your registered yet? It's easy! (And who doesn't love cookies?)
- March - Spring Dance
- April - Stay tuned - new event is underway…
- May - Teacher Appreciation week
Our next meeting is this coming Tuesday, February 13th, from 6:30-7:30pm. Don't be shy to join us. We'd love to have your perspective and ideas!
