Meteorologist, Jason Mikell from WBZ Boston
We had a fantastic visit from Meteorologist, Jason Mikell, from WBZ Boston came in to talk to all of the third graders as a culminating activity for our weather unit. It was a fun and engaging presentation where we learned more about the weather we've been discussing in class along with weather safety tips and weather tools.
Unbeknownst to us, Mr. Mikell let us know that the picture we took of him and the entire grade would be shown on air tomorrow morning during the newscast! Mr.
All of the students were such great listeners and participants and asked wonderful questions.
Lowell's Learning Garden!
Dear Families,
This week, Kindergarten students planted a "tulip test garden" in our Lowell Learning Garden as part of the international science project called Journey North. Our tulips are planted in 3 of our new raised beds in areas marked off with pink tape so we will remember where to look for them to emerge in the spring. This project will connect us with hundreds of other schools in the Northern Hemisphere. Next spring, students will share our local observations and report when our tulips EMERGE and BLOOM. This information will be shared with the other participating schools on Journey North’s website. As each school announces the arrival of spring in its community, students can plot the progression of spring across the Northern Hemisphere.
We have an exciting family volunteer opportunity coming up next week in the garden! It will take place around pick-up time. Grown-ups will gather at 2:00 to start working. After collecting your child(ren) at 2:30, they can join us in the garden to help!
